I don't know what your local ordinances are, but could you consider building a detatched "guest house"? It would allow for more privacy, and could serve another purpose (ie home office) if and when circumstances change. My parents built a mother-in-law suite on their house for my grandmother, but then she never moved in and they were stuck with it. I know that does not solve your kid bedroom issue, though. We are going through the exact same process right now. ...
This is all very sudden, but my DH is interviewing with a German company in Doha . . . anyone out there living in Qatar or used to live in Qatar? Is it a good place for families? I noticed a side comment on the UAE thread about how there is not much to do in Qatar . . . but a quick check tells me that the ex-pat mom's group has 500 members, there is a Montessori school, and several international schools. There must be a good number of families living in Doha . . ....
Staci- I have also been seeing Dr. Salter (only once or twice, but I really liked her so far), and apparently she is transitioning her practice to a subscription-based service - something like $2500 - $3500 per year per family, if I am understanding the notice I received correctly. I also received a notice that Dr. Hollie and Dr. Kinkaid are covering for her while she is on vacation - not sure if they are all practicing together now or if this is just temporary. Is...
. . . for the taking. I am cleaning out the closet! (Warning - some of the packages have been opened, but with only one or two things taken out. I hate to turn them all into trash, though . . .) - chux pads - diposable underwear - inflatable donut pillow (unopened box) - heavy-duty sanitary pads - dried comfrey (for making sitz-bath tea) I will also throw in some Traditional Medicinals Pregnancy Tea and some disposable nursing pads I have left over . . . If...
I am not a member of this forum, but I would just like to toss my 2c in as a donor-conceived person . . . 1. Happyma, take advantage of the counselling session. Even if you have already discussed this serviously, openly, and extensively with your DH (which I am sure you have), keep yourself open to questions from an impartial perspective. Many DH's have been known to bury their true feelings about donor insemination out of love for their DW and shame about their...

themammy said: Quote: Make that "unemployed ecological architect" since yesterday. Another victim of the recession (in Ireland). So does that mean you are an Architect who does sustainable design, or does that mean you are an environmental engineer of some sort? This may seem like an obvious question, but sometimes our terminology is a bit different on this side of the pond! Sorry to hear about the layoff. Too bad you are not in the London area...
Architect (planning to start my own practice soon!)
