I posted on ICAN too!
Here is a synopsis of what is going on...
I have a pg friend with EDD of May 15, 2nd baby, first was natural with a mw. She is supposed to birth at North Houston Birth Center. Just found out baby is breech. Apparently that mw does not do breech delivery so she sent her to Dr. Janowitz for a version. It didn't work. He scheduled her for a c-section on May 13!!!
What's wrong with this picture????!!!!!
Of course momma is so upset! Her mind is spinning. I let her...
My 3 daughters birthed with Dr. Rebecca Perlow. She is WONDERFUL! Very supportive of natural birth choices and lets daddy catch the baby. The nurses at the hospital love her too and don't mess with her patients. I highly recommend her.
Here is a great resource for the LA birth scene...
There are 2 other hospital based CNM's that I know of. One is Chantel Ashley and she delivers at Methodist Willowbrook. She is in this practice...
The other is Karen Brock and she delivers at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands.
I do not have first hand experience with either of these, but others have and do recommend them.
Nativiti is a birth center in The Woodlands and you can have a water...
When my dd gave birth at home last October, Dr. Romanda Hutsell did the newborn assessment at my dd's home. She also sees patients in her own home. She was recommended to dd by her mw. She is in Katy. Convenient to Copperfield (Hey, I live there too!) I know she does phone consults, so maybe a quick call would be all you need. If you would like the number let me know and I will call my dd.
A great resource for you is ICAN. There is a lively group here in Houston. I recommend that you join.
You are headed in the right direction by planning your vbac even before you are pg. That is great! In fact, there are several mothers over on ICAN that are doing the same thing, as we speak.
I just want to echo some of the sentiments that were already expressed. Had you been in the hospital things would have been even more traumatic for you. Your baby would probably have been in the NICU, they would have given you an episiotomy, tried to yank him out with forceps or a vacuum, had you laying on your back, which would have made the shoulder dystocia worse, likely leading to a section. The cord prolapse may have been a result of your water breaking early on in...
My all time favorite Caribbean island is Anguilla. (pronounced Ann-Gwill-Uh) It is 5 miles across the water from St. Martin/St. Maarten. You can fly from the states to St. Martin and take a ferry over or it's a 7 minute flight. You can also fly directly to Anguilla from San Juan. It is an amazing island! The beaches are the most spectacular that I have seen anywhere!!!
It is not mountainous. But the perfect, unspoiled beaches are so amazing. We have been there two...
Hi Jenak! I know you from ICAN. Congrats on the twins!! Have you thought about Dr. Del Castillo? There are some good reports coming out of MH Medical Center about their baby friendliness. I also seem to recall that Dr. Reed delivers twins vaginally and that MHTW where she delivers is baby friendly.
