Backstory: This spring I had to go to court to prevent my two DDs from being inoculated with TDaP when my ex-husband tried to force the issue when his new spouse was expecting a baby, and he suddenly became fearful of Pertussis (full disclosure: there was a pertussis "outbreak" in our area, consisting of 2 children in a neighboring school district that were diagnosed with pertussis, but it was on the news as an "outbreak.").  We share custody 50/50 and he has always been...
I am in the midst of, after 7 years of amicable relations with my ex, our first family court battle over the issue of  vaccinations (You can read the background in this thread: http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1380386/vegans-help-family-court-need-evidence-to-support-ethical-objection#post_17322755 ) In these stressful weeks before the hearing, I am getting a second opinion on the recommendation that my DDs be vaxed with TDaP.  After a decade being happy with our...
I know this is a very old thread, but if you haven't found a Montessori elementary school yet, try The Glen Montessori.  They go through 6th grade.  My DDs both go there, and I teach there!
thanks everyone.  I did attempt to reason with him before he pushed it to court.  I offered to keep DDs at my place more in the first 2 months or so and let them have DDs more in the subsequent months to make up for it.  I suggested having the girls always wash their hands before touching the baby and wear medical masks around the baby.  I asked them if we could get their titers checked for immunity and to precautionarily treat them with antibiotics if they are not...
I did decide I should try to request postponement.  I called the courthouse Monday but since no one was available I left a message as directed by the phone system.  No one has called me back yet, which is highly irritating.  I tried calling back again yesterday at 4:35, but didn't realize they close at 4:30 instead of 5.  I will try to call again today.  I think you're right, postponement is the best option at this point...But I'm still going to try to get some legwork...
Thank you sassyfirechick!  That is very helpful!
Thanks for the support.  I'm so stressed out!  I got served these papers when I was literally on my way to FL to take my kids on vacation.  I'm not supposed to get back until the day before the court date, so I'm trying to scramble to find legal counsel and do research--it's ridiculous!  I should add we are in PA and I have exemption forms that both my ex and I signed, stating our ethical objection (which falls under an umbrella religious exemption in our state), so I do...
The following is part of a post I created on the blended family forum, but I may end up having to represent myself in court on this case:   "I was served papers to appear in court a week from Tuesday.  I am in shock because my ex and I always worked things out amicably and I never had to seek legal representation before.  The two issues being brought to court are him demanding my unvaxed DDs get a pertussis shot to protect his wife's baby that is due to be born in a...
I was served papers to appear in court a week from Tuesday.  I am in shock because my ex and I always worked things out amicably and I never had to seek legal representation before.  The two issues being brought to court are him demanding my unvaxed DDs get a pertussis shot to protect his wife's baby that is due to be born in a month, and him wanting my oldest to go to public middle school next yr (DDs currently attend a private Montessori school that we mutually agreed...
I am hoping someone here might be able to help me with a recommendation of a pediatric dentist in the Pgh area that is hip to breastfeeding. My 17 mo DS is starting to get decay on his front teeth already! I've heard stories of nursing moms of toddlers being told by dentists to wean their child or to nightwean or to wipe off their toddler's teeth after every nursing. I have gotten the impression that most dentists equate long-term nursing with the same problems as taking...
