We appealed with my oldest son all the way to court level (3rd stage of appeal, I think). It took 2 years. Anyway--paper trial and document!!! I kept my daily calendars for all 3 years at that time with all of his tx appts and was able to construct a timeline of how many hour/week we were at various therapies, drive time, frequency of dr. Appts and in town/out of town, plus our recommended home program. I was able to show that I worked 40+ hr per week just in his...
When I pumped for my preemie, increasing my fats did seem to increase those in my milk. I increased the nuts, olive oil, eggs and dairy fats ( cholesterol is supposed to be good for preemie brain development from what I read). I also took all my prenatals plus b complex, a,c and e, as well as choline and inositol and ate nutritional yeast as much as I could. He received 1/2 milk and 1/2 fortifier until he came home, both for the extra calories but also to extend my...
Hang in there mama. You ARE NOT a failure--you observed that something was "off", located who could help you learn about it, and are working on helping him get closer to age appropriate. That sounds like a winner mom in my book. My oldest is now 13 and was in speech through ECI, then school and private until he was 7 (he started at
My son with sleep issues is 4 1/2 years. A sleep study is doable-we did one at 17/18m. Go to someplace that is familiar with kids. Also, try http://www.inno-vite.com/en3/products/Healthy%20Lifestyle/detail.php?prod_id=SP-01-30&cat_id=11 . I order from abacohealth.com out of Canada. It is a time released/sustained melatonin. We use the sublingual drops to get him asleep and this to keep him asleep lol (plus the passionflower but hoping to wean that.trialing tonight)....
Not in the same kiddo, but my oldest has eosinophilic esophagitis and my youngest some pretty severe sleep issues. The ee is treated with avoiding his high reaction foods (33!! Food allergies-we avoid the 2 worst and rotate his diet to avoid buildup to the rest), plus singulair which controls eosinophils and symbacort for the steroids. Also pre acid to reduce acid. Instead of swish/spit he drinks water and swallows it. So that may be a course of treatment to try. It...
Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melodic_intonation_therapy it is usually used for adults with aphasia (a language disorder typically caused by strokes)
Adorable!! I'm so glad things have gotten better for all of you.
Although I haven't had him formally eval'd for sensory issues, I did consider it. My oldest ds (not bio related) had/has an SPD dx and I have worked with a lot of sensory kids, and it just doesn't seem to fit him when I get to the nitty gritty of it. None of the techniques I know seem to help, for one thing, and I think I have tried them all lol if we continue down this path with no resolution or improvement, I will have him eval'd. As far as structure, yes! He goes to...
I am so sorry. I hope the reflux is the problem and you get continual improvement. The fact that you have seen slight improvement makes me think of 2 things, so I want to throw them out there: Jimmy (my reflux kiddo) did not tolerate the neocate at all as a baby, nor the other hypoallergenics. I was pumping and bottle-feeding at that time, band had to supplement and the formula intolerance actually landed him in the hospital. I was told he was a candidate for donated...
I promise we have been there!  More hugs, PM me if you need anything I can help with or just a shoulder.
