Thanks for the links to studies!! That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for to make a decision. I will ahve to read it in detail later this week--deep into a two weeks class. Unfortunately, a religious exemption will not work either--they simply have to make it a condition of contract between the legal teams that I be vaxed (medical even if it was me that had the medical issue is not a valid exemption either). Paid externship would be different, because...
I have a medically (mostly) non-vaxed 3yo. He is has LTA to egg, including contact, ingestion, and airborne. His allergist and ped both recommended no vax at all due to egg ingredients or possible cross contamination with egg ingredients, and so he only had a few that were given prior to his adoption (Hep B, Dtap, IPV) and allergy dx. However, in January I will have a medical externship for graduate school at a healthcare facility. They are requiring proof of my vax...
Coming late to the party My advice would be to hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst regarding transition and attachment. Our second child, first adoption, was a really easy transition and bonding process. Our third child, second adoption...not so much. We are 2 years in, and there are still things we are dealing with off and on. I think the PP advice about the 3 things you can't handle mentioned above is excellent, as well. Ds3 came home with some...
I was wondering if anyone had info, a link, etc on typical self regulation behavior and skills in 3 yo kiddos? I know ds3 has problems in this area, but am trying to determine how big of an issue it is. My frame of reference is skewed, and everything I can find says "innappropriate as compared to other children same age/gender" which is not helpful to me. What is "normal"? Plus, most of the info puts heavy emphasis on self-soothing/sleep, etc, and that is just not where...

Thanks ladies!! I like the idea of patterns and colors, but have never been good at matching up such tights to my existing clothes. Suggestions for places online to shop that might offer a variety? I will have to look around a bit--knee high socks might work for my longer skirts, but I am tall, so off the shelf ones are not quite high enough to look right with shorter skirts on me. As far as waiting til I get there, shopping is very limited to nonexistent (as I...
So I will be in Wyoming doing clinicals for the summer, and have just learned (compared to my TX heat--we've already hit 99 degreese one day!) that it is still cold up there! I was there all last summer, and was cool/cold almost the whole time, and temps are lower right now than they were last year. Also, I will be wearing primarily denim/khaki skirts and have to wear these shoes. I broke my foot at the end of February, and am finally out of my walking cast after 12 weeks...
Another slug story... I was at my Mom's house and I stepped out on to the wooden front porch/deck. My foot came down and I SKID across the porch, going at least 6 feet. We are talking slide on ice kind of skid. I look down, and I have a slug STUCK to the bottom of my BARE foot, and there is a 6 foot long slug trail behind me. We peel the slug off, and I ended up having to use turpentine based paint remover to get the slug slime off of me (and I still had to...
Wow!! That is huge! Isaac can do small sips of plain water now (and still his thickened milk in the bottles), but still aspirates drainage when he has allergies or a cold, so I know we have a long way still.
Although it doesn't necessarily sound like this is what she was doing it for, good potsure, sitting up, not leaning, etc. is important for good breath support for speech. She may have been looking for what he could do in an optimum position. I don't find her methods terribly over agressive from your description, but they do sound unacceptable for a first session. If the therapist had physically touched my oldest during a first (or the first several, really) session, it...
