Some women might benefit from the treatment described below. But please don't do it on your own. One has to be so careful with hormones. And maybe this would only work for those who already have problems with ovulation/progesterone. Just a thought. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov:80/entre...&dopt=Abstract Patient with insufficient glandular tissue experiences milk supply increase attributed to progesterone treatment for luteal phase defect. Yes, omega-3 oils would probably help. Actually there are many different omega-3 oils. Flax contains omega-3 oil called alpha-linoleic acid (ALA). Fish contains two others, DHA and EPA. DHA is the 'brain fat' - baby pulls it out of you and breast milk has it too if you have enough to give. Lack of DHA can contribute to depression. ONLY ALA is essential omega-3 oil. Your body can normally make DHA and EPA (the fish oils) from it. BUT your body may not make...
Quote: I'm at my wit's end here. First, it was just inability to concentrate and a little lack of motivation. Now it's heart palpatations, explosive temper, *complete* lack of motivation, severe inability to focus (I can hardly read), and it takes an extreme act of will to clean the kitchen. this sounds to me like a classical case of HYPOGLYCEMIA or low blood sugar. I suffer from it, and recently some friends also found out they suffer from it. Many...
A breastfeeding children's book http://www.mnsi.net/~amlm/Index.html Maria
Hi, I recently added a page on my site about breastfeeding in public worldwide. Someone from Italy did leave a posting there, it's painting a similar picture as was posted here. Any international mothers here, please consider adding to this page! It is relying upon visitor input. http://www.007b.com/public-breastfeeding-world.php Maria
I was never engorged, and this is my first baby. I could not tell a thing when the milk gradually changed from colostrum to full milk! I was surprised myself. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but my daughter had very strong suck when she was born, and suckled a lot ever since birth, and slept with me. It was a natural birth. I had somewhat sore nipples in the beginning and positioning was not perfect, but latch was strong! Maria
I found this article at Pubmed: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov:80/entre...&dopt=Abstract It said "Sublingual and buccal preparations of oxytocin were associated with an increase in milk production." Since we know nipple stimulation increases oxytocin production, would here be another thing to do if you have milk supply problems? Could it be that all the babies who just love to twiddle and tweak the one nipple while nursing from the other, would possibly contribute...
Sounds like they are trying to improve the formula fatty acid balance. It has been known that the fatty acid composition of human milk varies according to what kind of fats the mother eats. Your diet certainly affects the kind of fats your breast milk has, and unfortunately many western women have a large amount of trans fats in their breast milk, because they themselves eat quite a bit of it in margarine, hydrogenated oils, and fried foods. It has been shown that at...
I've recently studied a bit about omega-3 fats and baby's brain development, and wrote an article on those on my site at http://www.007b.com/breastfeeding_intelligence_diet.php I ran across info also that DHA levels are very low in women with postpartum depression. DHA is a non-essential omega-3 fat for adults, it's abundant in the brain. The baby pulls a lot of DHA out of the mother during pregnancy and breastfeeding because it's needed for brain...
