We live in Oregon and we spend between 450-500/ month.  This includes other household items too.  Ive been trying to figure out if we can get it any lower so Ive been keeping a close eye on our spending this past week. Meal planning goes a long way.  In the past I ended up having to go to the store in the middle of the week but with planning Ive been sticking too whats bought.   We are a family of 4.  We do have some significant allergy issues so while somethings might...
Well I see where you are coming from.  But in a way it is a kind of luck.  I am not discounting the sacrifices we make as SAHMs but there are moms who dont have a choice; they have to work.  And then after coming home from work they have to deal with the things we deal with. That said there is a lot of misconceptions out there about SAHMs.
Happyhats I so related to your post.  I got so upset the other day.  My Dh went on a trip to a conference.  He was gone for about 4 days.  When he came back we were at his pastors house and his pastor said something to the effect that he knows that my DH must be so tired after that long trip.  He hopes he will get time to relax.  Are you kidding me- I would jump at the opportunity to go to a conference especially one that is paid for.
I so agree with what everyone said.  I am also going to school, my classes are on line.  My husband has made some comments that annoys me.  I had a paper due a few days ago and I stayed up all night after the kids went to bed to work on it.  The next day I was totally tired; even though I was up all night once the kids get up I have to be up all day too.  My husband just didn't get why I would need to stay up; he thought I could work on what I need to do while I am with...
Thank you everyone for your responses.  Great idea to have my ESCE specialist as the point person, we have already discussed this.  My child does have a plan, we actually met earlier this week and went over how best to communication.  So I was able to get things cleared up.  Thanks again.
Thanks Mamas.  I agree his being happy is a biggy.  I decided to try to find other ways to be involved.  What bothers me most is the lack of communication.  I want to be able to extend his preschool learning at home since he is only there for such a short time.  I am not sure that I agree that doing newsletters and having families involved takes away from the time teachers can spend with students.  I see it as part of the package; it should be partnership especially...
I recently switch my 4 year old from one preschool to the next.  He loved his previous school and he really enjoys the new one even more than the previous one.  He seems to be extremely comfortable.  He usually takes a while to warm up to things but he quickly felt at home at this school; so its a big plus.  The problem however is that this school does not encourage parent involvement.  I drop my child off at the playground and pick him up in front of the school. The...
We have a terrible time at bedtime too but it has gotten better.  Age is probably a factor but Ive also found that ensuring that he is has active activities during the day also helps.  Now that it is warm I let him have all the time he wants in the backyard and also have some time swinging.  When it gets too difficult I roll him around in blanket like a hotdog and give him deep pressure massages.  He loves it and it tends to get him off to bed.
It's good that you sought an outside specialist for an evaluation.  I am in Oregon too and Ive found that EI/ ECSE tends to see need only when it is almost an emergency.  Their cut off scores I am guessing are pretty low.  I had to get them to screen my DS multiple times before they agreed there was a problem and even then it was because the last time around the SLP was more in tune with parents' concern and based on that gave us a referral.  I suspect that my DS might...
Hugs to you Mama.  Its so hard trying to figure out what's going on but it does sound as though there are sensory issues.  My LO has some of those similar symtom but his story in terms of diagnosis is still being written.  Hope you get some answers soon.
