Pros: Comfortable, different positions, cute designs, feels secure, quick to put on
Cons: Belt is a little thick
What can I say? I love my Beco! It's my everyday carrier and I've used it in pretty much every situation. I usually wear my baby on the front or my back each day and the Beco easily converts from a front carrier to a back carrier. I LOVE that the straps cross in the back instead of looping over my shoulders like a backpack. I love that I can loosen and tighten it in about two seconds.
At first, I wasn't too thrilled about the additional safety measures on the straps. In order to take off the straps, you have to hold in a button and push the sides at the same time. It took a while for me to get used to it, but now that I have, it's not a big deal. Also, I totally understand why you'd want the backup safety.
My daughter loves this carrier and it's super easy to adjust for breastfeeding. I started using it when my daughter was about five months old, just when she wanted to start facing out in my Moby wrap. With the Beco, you can make the base wide or narrow and the narrow setting is perfect for forward facing.
I haven't done the hip carry, but I tried it once and found it to be a bit awkward. I guess I've never used a carrier for hip carry before - a sling or pouch would probably be better for that situation.
Otherwise, I love the flap that comes up to keep my baby's head next to me when she's sleeping and I love the patterns. We have the owl pattern and I get compliments on a daily basis. I would highly recommend this carrier to anyone looking for a comfortable, safe, attractive and sturdy carrier. It rocks!
