Ina May's Guide to Childbirth

Very helpful.

dayiscoming2006

Pros: Gives lots of useful information.

Cons: Too crunchy.

I've found the book overall very informative on natural childbirth. It is anti-hospital unless deemed necessary. I totally agree with that. Many of the birth stories are enjoyable to read. Some are a bit weird for me.   I am not hippy, spiritual, whatever. So, those parts annoyed me a bit. I also do not believe in evolution, so any comments related to that got on my nerves as well....

Hypnobabies Home Study Course for Expectant Mothers Plus 2 Bonus Cds

Hypnobabies Home Study Course for Expectant Mothers Plus 2 Bonus Cds

“ This course I can't praise enough, the only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it is time consuming. You have to listen to at least one track a day which is about 30 minutes, plus practice your light switch technique at least five times a day. When I was going through the course for the first time I already had a one year old so it was hard to find the time to do it every day. That...” --amay

Birthing from Within: An Extra-Ordinary Guide to Childbirth Preparation

Birthing from Within: An Extra-Ordinary Guide to Childbirth Preparation

“ I read Birthing from Within during the last half of my second pregnancy after having read Orgasmic Birth. I had read Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Natural Childbirth and The Birth Partner during my first pregnancy. In the natural and home birthing community, of which I am a part, Birthing from Within is the first book most mothers recommend. The book stands alone in its perspective of preparing...” --Mama_Amethyst

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding (La Leche League International Book)

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding (La Leche League International Book)

“ I loved this book -- I read it while I was pregnant & found it really helped me prepare for a successful breastfeeding relationship. The book is honest, doesn't sugar coat the routine issues that new mothers sometimes face.   Maybe why I love the book so much is that I really believe it saved my ability to breastfeed my son. I took it with me to the hospital. A pushy nurse was...” --t2009

Together We Sleep

Together We Sleep

“ Together We Sleep is a wonderful bedtime story for young kids.  I love all the family bed images, which help to normalize co-sleeping.  I also liked how this book shows kids that co-sleeping is something practiced all over the world, in many different cultures.  My young son also loved reading about how different animals co-sleep.  The pages have nice texture, and the...” --mama_y_sol

Baby Reference, The Baby Bond, By Dr. Linda Folden Palmer

“   When I started reading this book, I immediately thought “Thank you Dr. Palmer!”  As a mother of a daughter, I practiced attachment parenting not because it was something I read about, but because it was my natural instinct.  This book is a fantastic compilation of the science behind this instinct, and how varying parenting practices affect babies on a physical as well as...” --consciousparent
