I knew I liked the Baby Bottom Balm by EMAB for my little ones. In fact, that's probably how I got the Mama Bottom Balm in the first place - I ordered it accidentally when I meant to get Baby Bottom Balm! But, I'm so glad I got it!
This salve is wonderfully soothing in the postpartum period. I had stitches that were very irritated and I had to do something to soothe them. While I was afraid that actually touching the area with my fingers would only make it worse, I knew I need to get this balm there so it could help speed the healing. My solution was to "dip" some toilet paper in the balm and then dab it on the stitched area. It helped SO much!
I don't know what I would've done in the week of healing if it hadn't been for the EMAB Bottom Balm. I highly recommend having it on hand for postpartum needs, and keeping around for any other time you may need a little, gentle healing boost.
Love this product - I purchased it prior to my LO being born - along with many other of their wonderful products - bottom spray, nipple balm, post partum bath herbs and several of their teas. Out of all of their products this one is my favorite...the milkmaid tea and nipple balm are close though.
The bottom balm was useful after my daughter was born - I had a pretty bad tear and found this was wonderfully soothing and helped lessen the discomfort and speed healing.
I still use it now for scrapes, scratches, burns etc anywhere that they happen (not just your bottom!), and I use it on my daughter too. Wonderful healing balm.
My daughter uses this on her 'babies' when they get boo boos too!
I <3 their products and buy this along with several others of theirs when making gifts for new mothers-to-be.
I actually found this for five bucks cheaper at another store after I bought this, but even so it was pretty pricey... but soooo worth it. I was really reticent to put anything on my stitches, especially when I heard this had a "cooling" effect. I did not like the idea of menthol or anything of the sort touching my open skin. That just completely freaked me out and made my skin crawl just thinking about it. I was terrified, really. But I had no reason to fear. It was great and really helped the healing process.
All I can say is "Ahhhh..." That pretty much sums it up!
I bought this on the recommendation of a blogger who said it was a "must have" for postpartum healing. I ordered on Amazon, but then found it stocked in my regular grocery store in the baby aisle. The 2 oz container wound up being plenty for my postpartum use; I slathered in on pretty generously and still had some left over by the time I felt "healed."
On first use, it is very soothing. It gives a cooling sensation on your skin. This feeling is short-lived, however. I enjoyed using it, though, as it did provide some comfort on my tender skin.
The biggest con was that it was very greasy and wound up staining my clothing. I was horrified to find big grease stains on the butt of my favorite yoga pants, haha. So... just beware that it can stain and be sure to check your pants before throwing them in the wash so that you can treat them first.
