Ergo Baby Carrier Reviews

Our go-to, from newborn to toddler!

Pros: Comfortable, easy, dad-friendly, stylish

Cons: HOT in warm weather.

My husband and I are anti-"baby bucket."  Everyone these days seems to carry their baby around in a plastic bucket with a handle, holding her at shin height and putting her on the floor for convenience.  When I got pregnant, we swore we would never be "bucket people."  We didn't know it at the time, but we were destined to become Ergo people instead.   Need to get your baby to sleep?  Try the Ergo. Need to get on and off a subway (translation: stairs!)?  Use your Ergo! Want to get through a crowded store?  Ergo to the rescue! Want a carrier your husband can figure out?  Ergo it is! Need to just hug your baby, but still get things done...

my lifesaver

Pros: easy to use, lightweight, for all sizes (w/ infant insert,) nice color

Cons: hard to sit in, although not impossible

without the ergo, i wouldnt have survived my first two months postpartum. i can chase my toddler while my newborn sleeps soundly, and with the infant insert, he stays snug and i can be sure that he is properly situated. my first son loves watching me wash the new baby in the sink, but it was impossible managing a baby in the sink and a toddler on a chair by the sink, so i tossed the toddler onto my back in the ergo while washing and then getting the new baby dressed. it was so easy :)   when i wear the ergo, i feel as if i am wearing nothing, and as scary as this sounds, i have occasionally forgotten that my son was in there! that is how normally i can go about my life. i...

My go-to Toddler carrier!

Pros: very supportive, easy on, great for toddlers

Cons: somewhat bulky when sitting or worn under a coat

I absolutely LOVE my Ergo, and if I had to choose only one carrier for a toddler, this would be it. We started using this when DD was about nine months old, and it really has made life easier.  She prefers a front carry (still, at 21 months), and this makes it easy to stay warm when it is cold out.  This is definitely one of the best baby purchases we made.  I agree with another reviewer that the waist padding is comfy but bulky, so it is not easy to sit comfortably with your LO in a front carry.  The straps are of the same weight, but they don't bother me.   I do think the price is a little high, but they are really well made, so I'm hoping mine...

Good for 5+months

Pros: Comfy

Cons: Infant insert didnt work

I had this carrier from day one. I used it until babe was 2 weeks and then it stoped working for us. Now that babe is 5 months and we dont need the infant insert this works great! Babe was really long so maybe that had something to do with it. It does take practice putting this thing on with babe in it. Great support!

Not my favorite.

Pros: Comfortable

Cons: Baby doesn't like to face me, not easy to put on back by myself

The ergo is not my favorite carrier because my child does not like to sit facing me. I also find it difficult to buckle the back buckle on my own.

Best Carrier Ever

Pros: Easy to nurse in

Cons: None

Best purchase ever, and I say so every day that I wear it.  I purchased this when my son was 4 months old.  It's easy to nurse in, easy to put baby in (even on the back).  My husband looks great in it.  I can't think of any reason why someone would purchase a brand other than Ergo.

Great for family hikes...

Pros: doesn't strain my back

Cons: Would like some better patterns to choose from.

I actually do not own a Beco yet but I borrow one from a neighbor when we go on longer family hikes or if we are going out of town. It is soooo much more supportive and comfortable than my Moby or Bijorn. We have used it for our daughter that is 18 months and tall and skinny and she loves it and I have used it w/ our 1 month old a couple of times. Works great every time and very versatile.

Love Ergo!

Pros: Comfortable, great support, weight range

I have two Ergo's and I love them! One is an original and one is a sport. The sport is great for warmer weather and the original is great for cooler weather. They both offer the same amazing support. I have walked for over an hour carrying my infant daughter in the original on my front and my 4 year old in the sport on my back, and it was great! I have also done a double hip carry with them as well and have loved the support! No need to worry about a sore back. I also love that Ergo offers their products on deal sites once in a while, can't say no to a half priced Ergo!

Pros: comfortable, good for heavier babies, front and back carry

Cons: short back/bad for tall babies, uncomfortable hip carry

I love my ergo. I bought it while still pregnant on the recommendation of a friend and I have been using it ever since. DD is 16 months now. My only problem is that she is really tall, so that back is a little short on her when I do back carries and she tends to lean back.

Ergo carrier is the best!

Pros: Everything about it is great!

Cons: hip carry not great if you have a bad neck

The Ergo carrier is my absolute favorite carrier! I purchased my first one after my son was born in 2007. I mainly purchased it because I liked the versatility of it and that it would go up to 35 to 40lbs in weight. I am very into multipurpose baby items so I didn't want to have to purchase a new carrier after a few months (money was very tight at the time) so anything that lasted longer worked for me. Little did I know how much use I'd get out of it. I had gotten a stroller for my baby shower and needless to say it collected a lot of dust. I barely used a stroller with my son I always went for my Ergo!. So comfortable so easy to use and once I got the hang of putting my son on my back...
