my lifesaver

Pros: easy to use, lightweight, for all sizes (w/ infant insert,) nice color

Cons: hard to sit in, although not impossible

without the ergo, i wouldnt have survived my first two months postpartum. i can chase my toddler while my newborn sleeps soundly, and with the infant insert, he stays snug and i can be sure that he is properly situated. my first son loves watching me wash the new baby in the sink, but it was impossible managing a baby in the sink and a toddler on a chair by the sink, so i tossed the toddler onto my back in the ergo while washing and then getting the new baby dressed. it was so easy :)   when i wear the ergo, i feel as if i am wearing nothing, and as scary as this sounds, i have occasionally forgotten that my son was in there! that is how normally i can go about my life. i...

My go-to Toddler carrier!

Posted

Pros: very supportive, easy on, great for toddlers

Cons: somewhat bulky when sitting or worn under a coat

I absolutely LOVE my Ergo, and if I had to choose only one carrier for a toddler, this would be it. We started using this when DD was about nine months old, and it really has made life easier.  She prefers a front carry (still, at 21 months), and this makes it easy to stay warm when it is cold out.  This is definitely one of the best baby purchases we made.  I agree with another reviewer that the waist padding is comfy but bulky, so it is not easy to sit comfortably with your LO in a front carry.  The straps are of the same weight, but they don't bother me.   I do think the price is a little high, but they are really well made, so I'm hoping mine...

Best Carrier Ever

Posted

Pros: Easy to nurse in

Cons: None

Best purchase ever, and I say so every day that I wear it.  I purchased this when my son was 4 months old.  It's easy to nurse in, easy to put baby in (even on the back).  My husband looks great in it.  I can't think of any reason why someone would purchase a brand other than Ergo.

Love Ergo!

Posted

Pros: Comfortable, great support, weight range

I have two Ergo's and I love them! One is an original and one is a sport. The sport is great for warmer weather and the original is great for cooler weather. They both offer the same amazing support. I have walked for over an hour carrying my infant daughter in the original on my front and my 4 year old in the sport on my back, and it was great! I have also done a double hip carry with them as well and have loved the support! No need to worry about a sore back. I also love that Ergo offers their products on deal sites once in a while, can't say no to a half priced Ergo!

Ergo carrier is the best!

Posted

Pros: Everything about it is great!

Cons: hip carry not great if you have a bad neck

The Ergo carrier is my absolute favorite carrier! I purchased my first one after my son was born in 2007. I mainly purchased it because I liked the versatility of it and that it would go up to 35 to 40lbs in weight. I am very into multipurpose baby items so I didn't want to have to purchase a new carrier after a few months (money was very tight at the time) so anything that lasted longer worked for me. Little did I know how much use I'd get out of it. I had gotten a stroller for my baby shower and needless to say it collected a lot of dust. I barely used a stroller with my son I always went for my Ergo!. So comfortable so easy to use and once I got the hang of putting my son on my back...

Most comfortable baby carrier for larger babies

Posted

Pros: can be worn a variety of different way, very comfortable

Cons: none

I received my Ergo as a gift before my son was born. At first I was not sure how much I would use it as this was my first child and I wasn't quite sure how much babywearing I would do.  Boy was I glad we had this carrier! My son was born with multiple food intolerances and due to gastrointestinal pain he cried a lot and need to be carried almost ALL the time during his first year of life.  The Ergo saved me.  It was by far the best structured baby carrier we owned (we tried a few others as well).  It was versatile (could be worn different ways) it made the long hours of babywearing less torture on my back and shoulders (my son was 16lbs at 4mos).  I have...

Most versatile and toddler-proof carrier

Posted

Pros: easy on and off, front and back carrier, longevity, my husband loves it

Cons: not ideal for a newborn/small infant

The ergo is the one baby product that I can honestly say I have used the longest.  Although I loved the Moby for those first 6 months when my son lived on top of me, the Ergo has by far been used more often.  I was able to carry my son in a front carry comfortably until he was 18 months old and the transition to a back carry was simple.  He would often fall asleep in it and the hood was such a great feature to keep his head from flopping around.     Now, at almost 3 years old, he can climb into it without help and still likes going for walks in it.  I particularly enjoy the simplicity of the Ergo.  It is easy to throw in the car and put on once I...

Ergo baby carrier...one of the best

Posted

Pros: good support for baby and you, easy to use

Cons: a tall or big baby can throw themselves backwards

I love my Ergo, and so does my daughter. I received it as a baby shower gift and I have used it since she was about 6 months old for front and back carry. I find it easy to use and adjust. Ive managed to find a good method of getting her on my back safely by myself. My daughter is now almost 2 and still loves the Ergo.....I have hardly used a stroller since Ive had her as I have been using this. She often falls asleep in the carrier, and it is relatively easy to take the carrier off and leave her sleeping. It is easy to keep clean, is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. My daughter loves to play with it too...if I leave it on the floor or a low surface she will find it and...

Best carrier I've ever encountered

Posted

Pros: Comfortable for parent and child, Great back support, Doesn't affect child's growth, Durable, High Quality, Can breastfeed in it, Can machine wash

Cons: The price is a little higher than with other carriers (but it's worth it), not designed for baby to face out

I wanted to wear my baby so badly and tried a handful of different carriers. None of them worked for us, and I almost gave up on my baby-wearing dream. I came across this carrier during an online scavenger hunt and even though my daughter was already over a year old, I wanted to try baby-wearing again with the Ergobaby carrier. Unlike other carriers, the Ergo has THICK shoulder and hip pads and displace the baby's weight even over the parent's upper body. I can still carry my daughter in it (now 3 y/o and over 30 lb), and we are both comfortable. I still use it actually - when she gets tired on a hike, for example. I really love this carrier and I'm grateful that I was able to wear my...

Lasts a LONG time!

Pros: Works well for babies through big toddlers, weight is distributed to adult's hips

Cons: pocket is too small

I nannied for years for a family that had multiple carriers and wraps and the Ergo was by far my favorite.  It was the only one I found easy to use AND comfortable for carrying bigger children.  So many carriers, slings, and wraps would give me shoulder or back pain after hours of use, but never the Ergo.  I've worn my daughter in it on extensive hikes and it distributes her weight evenly to my hips.     I don't think the Ergo is ideal for newborns, even with the infant insert.  However, from age 5months and older, its my go-to carrier.  If I could change one thing, I'd re-position the pocket so that the zipper was on the top, rather than the side...
