Pros: Easy to give, pleasant taste
Cons: Tends to be messy, not as effective as I hoped
I was very pleased to receive a bottle of Hyland's newly revamped teething tablets, as many people have told me how very effective they are, without the harmful side effects of mainstream teething gels. My daughter is eight months, and still has no teeth, but has had teething symptoms for several weeks. When we received the tablets, I gave her three under her tongue, as per the directions.
The tablets were very easy to give, they're small and fit under the tongue easily. I did one at a time, holding them in with my finger as they melted. They did dissolve quickly. If your child is drooling a lot, which if they're teething, they probably are! then it will be helpful to have a tissue handy to wipe up the chalky drool! She seemed to like the flavor, and they did seem to help a bit, as she stopped fussing and started chewing on her teether.
Unfortunately, it was not long before she started her 'teething fuss' again. I was hesitant to give her more, as the bottle specifically states the importance of following dosing instructions. Over the past week, I have found that the tablets are helpful in many ways, even if they aren't as effective as acquaintances led me to believe.
I think Hyland's teething tablets would be helpful as an overall regimen for helping young ones through teething, but they probably would not be a stand-alone treatment in our house.
