Lansinoh Lanolin for Breastfeeding Mothers 2 oz (56 g)

Really not that different from other lanolin products, but at good quality and a reasonable price. I understand that some women have more pain or soreness with breastfeeding than I have, so I feel lucky in that regard. Even so, it is great to have something on hand to soothe dry, chapped nipples, especially after a growth spurt, and Lansinoh is definitely a trusted brand name. I have only gone through half a tube thus far, and my little one is two months old, but I expect to run out well before he is finished breastfeeding, so I will definitely be headed back to the store for more!

Pros: heals 'ouches' quickly

Cons: stains and can be hard to apply at lower temperatures

I love this product... when I first started breastfeeding particularly. It heals sore and cracked nipples quickly, is reasonably priced and is easily sourced from most drugstores. The cons to this product are that stains clothing...however, if you make sure you are wearing breast pads when you are using it then your clothes will be protected. It is also hard to squeeze out of the tube and apply at lower temperatures. I still use it now, and have also found it useful as lip balm. My daughter -  now nearly 2 brings it to me whenever I have an 'ouch', and also applies it to her dolls nipples!

Pros: safe for baby and mama

I used this stuff multiple times a day while breastfeeding. You don't have to wipe it off before breastfeeding which is convenient. You can use it for other things, too, like lanolizing wool covers, diaper cream, rash ointment, dry skin, etc.

Pros: safe for baby to eat, good for protecting dry/chapped skin, lasts FOREVER

Cons: can be difficult to apply to sensitive/sore nipples, especially when the product is cold, sticky-sticks to clothing/breast pads/baby's face

I loved using Lanisoh pure lanolin in the first few months of nursing DS, when I was dealing with serious nipple pain. The cream gave him white face, but it was worth it -- not only because it made my nipples feel less pained, but because it also gave me something to laugh at - the lanolin all over DS's mouth! I agree with previous posters, it would be nice if the product was packaged in smaller packages, since I only used about an eighth of the package. It would also be nice if the packaging were in the form of a tub or something similarly easier than a tube to get product out of. I DO however like the change in the packaging, the new tube design is much easier to squeeze.

I also use this product for my eczema. It absorbs and moisturizes better than petroleum jelly, not to mention that the product is not petroleum derived! I usually put it on before I go to bed at night, and it means that I don't have to worry about reapplying the lanolin until the next night unless I get a really bad outbreak that forces me to apply the product a couple of times per day.

I will keep this in the house whenever I am nursing a newborn and as long as I still suffer from eczema.

Pros: Really works

Cons: Too big of tube

Lanolin is great for "conditioning" your nipples for the rigors of breastfeeding! For the first couple months I used this product religiously. It's also good because it is safe for baby- so you don't have to wipe your nips off before feeding or anything. My only complaint is that I wish you could buy smaller sizes of tubes. You use so little of it that I have most of my tube left!

Pros: Thick, protectant, moisturizing

Cons: hard to spread, staining, not for everyone

Lansinoh lanolin is a must-have for every nursing mother, especially in the early days. It's safe for baby and safe for mommy. It's thick, so it provides a barrier while also helping to heal cracked, irritated skin. That said, it's not my favorite nipple cream because it can be hard to spread on tender skin and some people are sensitive/allergic to it especially with consistent or continued use. It also stains breast pads, and I found that it increased sticking to breast pads as well, which can really hurt! Still, I agree with another user that it's great for dry winter skin, chapped lips, etc.!

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use, lasts a long time, versatile

Cons: Sticky

Lanolin is a fabulous natural skin protector. I used this for chapped nipples and when that was no longer a problem, I diversified it's use.  I've used this for chapped skin on my son's face, lanolizing diapers, and as an ingredient in lip balm.  I really love lanolin!
