Baby Wearing at Its Best!

The Moby Wrap is essentially a long strip of thick knit cotton with a bit of a natural stretch, and a very soft hand (like flannel). I got it when my baby was a month and a half old, and have used it ever since, although with the cold this winter, I haven't had a chance to wear it outside.
The Moby wrap is fully adjustable to the wearer's body and fits all sizes moms, dads, and caretakers. It's also available in different colors, solids, prints, and some more designer-y versions. The price is between $34 and $60 which to me is fairly affordable, especially considering its versatility: it can be used up to age 2-3, the wrapping positions can be changed to accommodate a growing baby, and can be also used with twins! It's machine washable, so cleaning it is very easy!
Putting on the wrap takes some learning and practice. What makes it easier is the label in the middle of the wrap that always gives you a starting point. You might need a little help in the beginning. Also, the wrap is pretty long, so the ends will wallow on the floor. This is the reason why, if you want to take baby out in the car and put it in the wrap later, let's say for shopping, you might want to have the wrap already tied on you. It would be difficult to put on in a car, and it would not be hygienic to put outside of the car, since half of the wrap will be sweeping the parking lot.
The Moby comes with a booklet that explains how to do different style wraps - for newborns, infants, toddlers, twins, breastfeeding, etc. You can also find some nice tutorials on YouTube. But it's wise to try it with a doll first. The Moby is very safe - your baby is held onto your body by 3 layers of cotton fabric. It feels very secure and stable to me. In some positions you will have to check that the baby's head is not too close to its chest. Also, because of the three layers of fabric and your body on the other side, the wrap might be too hot on babies especially in the summer. Just don't wear your baby for too long, so she doesn't overheat.
My son seems happy in the Moby - he gets to take part in conversations and be carried around for longer time. He has fallen asleep in it, too. They say that babies can feel if you're afraid or hesitant when you carry them, so practice ahead. Putting the baby in the wrap can be challenging so don't do it when baby's cranky. And don't hesitate too much, or he could sense something's up and get cranky really fast. Once you both gets used to it, it gets much easier and quicker.
Overall, I'm really happy with this product and recommend it to all caretakers out there. They say it's great for preemies and kangaroo care, as well as for dads who want to bond with and wear their newborns.
