So, after MUCH searching, I finally got my 3yo dd a pair of Crocs Flurry winter boots- because they are literally the only boots that have insoles as wide as her feet (which is a whole other rant!) However, as happy as I am to have found something wide enough, I'm absolutely ready to lose it over the fact that the foot part isn't insulated-- which didn't seem that bad when I bought them, but now she's worn them twice, and both times I've pulled them off the find that the top of the toe section (which isn't actually touching her foot because there's a little bit of space) is cold and WET. After last night- out in the very cold, I assumed that it was condensation from her little tooties heating up the inside of the boot- even through the three pairs of socks I put her in. But then today she wore them to Target (she's so excited about new shoes!) and I noticed the same thing afterward. I am SO FRUSTRATED!! We live in a VERY cold climate and will be out a lot in harsh weather for the next 5 months or so-- it would be unsafe for her to be out with wet toes!
Has anyone else noticed this with these boots? I just ordered some of these socks http://www.amazon.com/Stormkloth-The.../dp/B000TXJVG2
that are fleece lined and claim to have a waterproof nylon outer layer. Does anyone have any other ideas for how I could make this work? I'm wondering if I should try to stick some wool felt or something inside the toe for better insulation? Or should I try to get the company to do a return (the stinking things were $50!) and buy her the only officially wide boots I could find, which are two sizes too big?
