soapwort for laundry anyone?

In looking into soapnuts, I've learned that other plants contain saponins too and have been used in the past to clean laundry, etc. Soapwort grows abundantly in the US, and also contains saponins. I read that you can boil the plant and use the liquid for laundering. Just wondering if anyone has tried this?

Idk, I'm interested too. I occasionally buy Maggie's soapnuts, but I thought those came from Indonesia? Why should we import a product that we can grow domestically? I've wondered for a while if I could grow my own "suds" instead of laboring to make soap and stuff from that soap.
