Tea Party Craft Idea help needed

My dd is having a tea party this weekend for her 7th birthday. I'm at a loss for what kind of craft to have at her party. Ideally it will be something easy and fun since I'm not particularly crafty. Any thoughts/ideas/help would be most appreciated.

Would she be interested in the decorate a mug kits? They make some that come with markers that dry very quickly and could be used right away. (My son made them for everyone last year as holiday gifts.)

decorate a ""tea cake" to eat?

make a loom potholder?

decorate their own napkin ring or fancy nameplate?

or use fabric paint to personalize a linen napkin?

I'm sure you will think of something great.

Maybe something like felt tea cakes? Like those pretend food ones. You could have mini felted cakes and they could decorate them. Or you could have them decorate real mini cakes or cupcakes? Do the craft stores have unfinished wood tea pots? If it is an Alice in Wonderland tea party, you could do something related to that.

One thing we did when my DD was that age was have the girls decorate picture frames (either wood or "foamie"). Then DH took a picture of each girl at the party holding the frame and printed it out for them to put in the frame. And since things can never be easy for DH, he photoshopped the pictures so it was an infinity picture of the girl holding the frame with the picture of the girl holding the frame inside the frame in the picture, etc, etc.

But you could just print out a simple group shot or something if you're not quite as technically advanced as my DH.

How about making fancy hats for the girls to wear during the party? You could have ribbon and fake flowers and plain hats from michaels.

Have fun!

What about blending their own herbal teas?

You can offer different loose herbs/spices for them to mix into their own tea blend. You can give each their own tea ball to go with it or just staple the blends into single serving sizes in coffee filters. Pack that in a little paper bag and have them name/decorate the packaging to match their teas.

This may sound a little off the wall and maybe toxic, but we made/decorated these little hats out of styrofoam cups that our choir director shrank in the oven before hand. Sounds very tea-partyish to me.

Well, good friend google has several suggestions as to how this is done.

I just had a tea party for my 4 year old daughter's birthday this past weekend. We decorated hats, using "blank" hats we bought online, but I also really liked this idea of making hats from newspaper:

I would have done the newspaper one with my daughter, but I didn't think she and her friends would have sit still long enough to wrap the newspaper around their heads. But aren't those pictures just darling!!!

We also made tissue paper flowers (google it and you will find lots of info) which were easy and pretty, although the mothers did most of the folding. Good luck!

Thank you all so much for your awesome ideas. I'm going to go to Michael's and see what they have for hats/mugs/frames/linens and go from there. Hopefully a non-crafty mama will be inspired.
