progesterone TTC and miscarriage?

If anyone can help I'd be really grateful.
My partner has low progesterone and started taking prometrium suppositories this cycle. We took a pregnancy test 14 days dpo and it was negative but both felt a strong feeling she was pregnant so she stayed on the prometrium, retook the test 21 days dpo and then 23 days dpo, still negative so she decided to stop. three days later she passed some weird looking tissue that looked nothing like normal af blood clots and now is bleeding heavily. friends came out of the woodwork telling us that they had negative pregnancy tests with their children for weeks, (even months in one case!) but were in fact pregnant. has anyone else had this happen? Of course DP is feeling really bad like if she wouldn't have stopped the progesterone. . .even though i keep assuring her it is not her fault at all. How do you know for sure you're not pregnant and to stop taking it?
If anyone else has had experience with this we would love to hear from them.
Thank you!

My only thoughts on this are the prometrium builds up the uterine lining like pregnancy. If she stayed on it so long, the lining kept building. Then the lining shed having a different appearence. Prometrium makes your body think its pregnant. Its very decieving. It will keep AF away. Perhaps a beta blood test next month to see if there is a pregnancy next cycle. Good luck to you!!!
On my breif stint on prometrium, I was certain of pregnancy. It also kept AF at bay until I discontinued it. I now have a 5-6 day post IUI progesterone level drawn to see if I need it, which I have not.

Thanks for the input.
well, now DP just talked to our fertility clinic and the nurse was very surprised that no one had told us that she should have a BLOOD pregnancy test before she stopped the prometrium. That makes sense to me, but we were under the impression that they wouldn't do blood tests unless you had a positive urine, which I guess is totally not true.
So she agreed from Tami's description that she probably did have a miscarriage.
It would have been much more helpful to have that info *before* she stopped the prometirum. so frustrating!!
