I think we made a mistake....!

We been doing selective and delayed vaxes for my son.

I went ahead with the polio vaccine (IVP) for my 13 month old yesterday. Last night he started vomitting. Of course my doctor's office is saying it is a coincidence. Or at the least it isn't the Polio shot that is causing it but DTaP he got as well -which he has had before with zero issue!

They say to wait until Thursday afternoon and call if he doesn't get better. In the meantime get some liquids into him.

He is obviously not his playful self though he is down and exploring at the moment. I nursed him about a half hour ago and so far so good.

I'm just totally beside myself with worry right now!

reactions are the biggest reason why i would only allow one at a time...its hard to know.

i hope he feels better soon.

its a hard decision to make but perhaps research a more delayed schedule for him.

AT this point, you need to treat the current illness he's facing, whether it's a vax reaction or he picked up a cold at the ped's office (with the vax lowering his immunity so he couldn't fight off the virus.) I'd keep on offering the breast as much as he'll take it, and not worry the slightest if he doesn't want any other foods.

What Ruthla said.

I agree that there is very little you can do now other than hope he runs a fever to get some of the toxins out again. He has to start repairing. Nothing can get injected without the body having to get rid of it. It is just a foreign substance to the body and must be removed. I am suspecting that is what is going on in him.

So, a fever is good.

What I would worry about is if Thurday they would do 'something' to treat the reaction. Because there is nothing. The body has to take care of it.

I hope he runs a fever and gets back to his normal self again afterwards.

Came back to ask - do you have SA at home? I would give him enough to cause a loose stool for a few days. SA will help him get rid of the viruses that were injected.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does SA stand for? I've seen it a couple times, but don't know what it is despite trying my best to figure it out!

Sorry!

SA - sodium ascorbate, a Vitamin C

CLO - cod liver oil (just in case ...)
