Good Wii games??

My children are 4, 8 and 10. I wanted to get them a game for Christmas. The 4 yo is not too interested in the Wii yet so mainly for the older two. My 10 yo loves Dance, Dance Revolution at the arcade and I was wondering about the Wii version. Does anyone have it? Does it work well? What about Guitar Hero?

What other games are good choices for the Wii? We have Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games and the kids really like that. They also play Winter Sports and Wii Sports. We have Wii Play but they don't use it too often.

Thanks!

We've got a mercury puzzle game. It's good, kid-safe, but pretty challenging. Our friend's 7y.o. <3's our Wii Fit. (He also likes "Destroy All Humans," but he's allowed some screen violence and is young enough to miss the entendres.)

Oh, and the mercury puzzle lends itself to letting everyone have a turn at trying the level a couple times until someone gets through and then working together on the next level.

Mario Kart. My fav game of all time.

Mario Galaxy is highly rated and I like it.

Rayman's Raving Rabbids is weird and funny.

Mario Galaxy

Mario Party 8

Super Mario Smash Bros.

(We love Mario in this house)

We're getting Guitar Hero World Tour (with the guitar, drums and microphone) for Christmas, but it may be too old for your 4 y/o. We may also look into Mario Paper/Paper Mario (?) and Mario Kart.

Thanks everyone!!

I think my DD said something about Mario Galaxy. I bet my DH would like Mario Kart too.

We love Boom Blox at our house! It's interactive, multiple people can play, or you can play individually. I've played with people aged 5 to 60 and everyone had a blast. It's all cartoon characters, one level is set with a halloween theme, so there are tombstones, grim reapers, and ghosts, but it's very kiddy art. That's the only thing I can think of that might be objectionable. Highly recommended. We also like Mario Kart!

Mario Party 8 is fun because multiple people can play at the same time. We also looove Smooth Moves.

Mario kart here too. Dd is 3 and always comes in last, but she loves it and actually completes a lap or two depending on the track!

What are the best ACTIVE games?? We've always avoided game systems but we're okaying this one for SIL to get the kids for Christmas since it's more active. But we want to keep them moving. Any suggestions??

Outdoor challenge is an awesome game. It comes with a mat that you put on the floor and that's how you control it. It gets my heart rate up and it's so much fun!

Plus, the sports game that comes with the Wii is pretty active.

Get the Wii Fit. It is so much fun! Anyone can use it for different things. Once you dodge panda bear heads and shoes, you'll understand.

Harvest Moon: build up a farm from scratch- raise chickens, cows, sheep, etc and plant crops. start relationships with the townspeople and bring new people in. Animal Crossing is along the same lines in that you are building up a town but there is more focus on creating and expanding your home.

Cooking Mama (and Cooking Mama World Kitchen): the latter is better, IMO-- but you make tons of recipes using the wii controller as a knife, spoon, spatula, etc. YOu can face off against friends, open new recipes, etc.

Zelda: For a bit older kids because it is a long game that involves lots of puzzles and patience at times.

Fire Emblem: Tactical game, also for older kids who like really figuring stuff out and planning their attacks

more active games:

Wii Fit
Wii Sports
There's also a series of games that have sports by seasons

My nephews are 6 and 8 and their father (my brother) told me to get Madden 09 for them. They love football, so it suits them, but I also have a feeling my brother is looking forward to it.

My kids all love the Wii. We have a Wii fit and all the games that come with it are fun. The Wii Sport game is also fun for moving around (it has bowling, golf, tennis, boxing, and other stuff). Mario Kart is really fun, even for really little kids. And my ds (almost 13) likes Boom Blocks.

For Christmas the grandparents are getting them Music and DDR.

If we only had one or two games (not including the Fit), then I'd get Sports and/or Mario Kart.
