I think the first January baby is here!

Our third son, Zephaniah Isaac, was born today at 12:21 pm after a very fast labor. He was 31 weeks 3 days. He was quite early - due January 17 - but after a very complicated pregnancy we're so thankful we've made it this far!

He is doing well for his age. He's on CPAP with room air and is settling in nicely to the NICU. Hopefully we'll be able to start kangaroo care and giving him pumped breastmilk on Wednesday or Thursday.

I'll share my birth story and pictures when we're a little more settled.

Wow! Congratulations!! Welcome Zephaniah Isaac!!

(As I type those exclamation marks, I'm reminded of the Seinfeld ep where Elaine gets upset with her bf for not using an explanation point on a message about a friend's baby's birth. LOL!)

A woman in my DDC on LiveJournal just had her baby at 31 weeks as well - her little girl was on a vent, graduated to a room air CPAP, and is already off that - she's blogging here: http://jayciesjourney.blogspot.com/ if you'd like to check it out!

He was 3 pounds 13 ounces. I think he's about 16 inches long, but I don't think anyone has measured yet!

We're hoping to have him home by Christmas. They say most babies go home between the equivalent of 36 and 40 weeks, and at Christmas he would be 37 weeks.
