How can I prevent spreading this virus to my sis (x-posted in H and H)--really, it's knitting...

I just finsihed knitting a sweater for my sister, and within the very same day, I came down with a stomach bug. I am wondering what I can do to prevent the bug from getting to my sister through this sweater. It's organic wool, so any washing, other than in tepid wool wash, is out of the question.
Is there a waiting period that will allow the bug germs to die off? Should I give it a week before giving it to her??

Thanks!!

How sweet and thoughtful! I think its ok to give it to her now. I'd let her know you were sick so if she starts to feel bad she can see a doc right away if she wants to.

I wouldn't worry.

what about a spritz all over with vinegar and EO to kill stuff. Then air it out before mailing it.

I think the reason why many cloth diaperers myself included are partial to wool is that it does have antibacterial properties. I think a good wash, even in tepid water, and a good airing out (preferably outside), will essentially kill all bugs. Maybe you could also mix a little tea tree oil and lavender, dab it on your hands and rub the sweater thoroughly for good measure.

BTW, you are so sweet for thinking about this!!

Could you freeze it? I freeze stuffed animals because it supposedly kills germs in them.

Well, you should block it anyhow. Honestly SO, I'd add a little lavender e.o to your blocking water and by the time it's dried out, any virus on there will be dead anyhow.

I thought about this, too. When I blocked it over the weekend, I hadn't done the collar or button band yet (and wasn't sick), so I spritzed them with water and tto. I am gonna wait it out a couple of days and take the sweater to her.

ETA: The main reason I worry i s that my sister has a couple of very challenging physical disabilities due to brain surgeries, and having the flu is quite a bit harder on her than on the average person. I would go the extra mile to prevent this for her, for sure!
