New WIC packages to promote exclusive BF?!?!?!?! - Page 4

That's exciting....hope it's coming my way....I'm moving to PA and hope the WIC here is better than in VA where I'm from....although when I went in the new office for paperwork they had a sign up for breastfeeding omthers to use a certain room to nurse, so I'm not holding out much hope......

Wow, that's great! I've been slow on getting recertified and now I definitely will call on Friday and see if they're open and get me and the 2 youngest on it again. I need to get on it before baby comes anyways b/c there is a good chance I'll have to supplement again (and at $37/can, I can't afford it). I'm busting my butt to not have to use formula, and hopefully it will at least reduce the amount I need.

120 jars a month is a TON of babyfood, holy crap! We've always made some of ours and we did more whole foods w/ Ilana, but maybe that's normal for people who don't do that? Wow, that makes me glad we make ours if that's how much normal people buy. We wouldn't buy the meat anyways, ewwww.

That is very good news!

Especially the whole wheat bread/tortillas option, substituting canned beans for dried beans, and salmon for tuna. I'm a little wary about the fresh fruits and vegetables phrase because it used to just be carrots. I'd like to branch out a little further than that: brocolli, spinach, green beans, apples, bananas, etc.

I'll go back on WIC after this baby is born and I'm very glad to see the changes.

Here's another document I found describing the new program. Its not very legalese and more accessible to the everyday reader:

wow, it might be worth getting back on wic if we can get soymilk instead of cow milk.... and the other changes are great too! i quit getting it when we realized baby has dairy issues. well, i still got it when we were in GA, since you didnt have to get everything, but here in LA, you have to get everything on the check, so all that milk was going to waste

i still wouldnt have used anything we got for the baby though, since we didnt do baby food. its nice that theyre giving it though, for those who do use it.

we have seen none of these changes here, in-fact now I get less than I did when nursing DS1
