Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for the responses. All of them were helpful. I'm still not sure what we'll choose--if we'll even choose to ttc,and then what after that--but it really helps reading these posts. Thanks.

If you present a birth plan to the OB, ask about being able to move around and labor in different positions. I can't speak from experience, since my first baby is due in January, but I have read that movement can really help you progress during labor. Even though it might help prevent unnecessary interventions, it seems like one of the things that hospitals are most against.

keep open to the possibility that there are in fact wonderful, repectful hospital births and OBs. i have both.
