having an induction tommorrow, send good thoughts our way!

i am continuing to verge into official preeclampsia status, and while i was planning on a homebirth my midwives can't do it at my house if i am preeclamptic and the hospital cnms cant do it either so in order to have the least interventionist birth possible i will be going in for an induction with a hospital cnm tommorrow night. they will start cervidil and hopefully that will bring on labor alone, if not we will move on to pitocin. if for some reason the induction isn't successful i can go home and wait as long as my waters haven't broken. but i am really hoping all goes well, the induction works its medical magic and i have my little bubs in my arms in a couple days!:

Not in this DDC, but this thread came up in the New Posts....

Best wishes to you and your baby! I was induced with my first after being diagnosed with HELLPS (similar to pre-e). Not the ideal entry for DS, but we all made it through!

I had a positive experience with the cervidil, if that reassures you at all.

that is so good to hear about your experience being positive! did you also need pit or did your body go into labour from the cervidil alone?

no pit. total time from cervidil insertion to baby out = 4 hours
i actually only kept the cervidil in for 2 hours.

Wishing you a wonderful birth! I will be interested to hear how your induction goes, since I'll be facing the same thing if I don't have this baby in the next 10 days or so (because of my thyroid problem, I'm not going to be able to go too far past my due date).

that is so fantastic! i am going to repeat your story in my mind when the midwife puts it in... "this will start labor, this will start labor!".

I also have an induction scheduled for next wednesday if I dont go before hand, and that is the first thing they are going to try as well. I am also going to repeat this over and over again in my head. Pit scares the crap out of me, and Epis scare me even more, so if we can get things going without the pit, I will be VERY HAPPY. Of course DH and I keep trying to get things going even BEFORE THEN. Hope that works first!

barbie- i too am terrified of eipdurals, thats why i sooo want the cervidil to do its thing so i dont end up with the overly intense pit labor.

Isnt it wierd that Epi's are like the IT thing these days in mainstream birthing? I mean, i was in a room full of women one day, one of them had just had a baby, and they were all discussing their epidurals. And I was like, Am I the only one who DIDNT have an epidural? They all looked at me like I had two heads! it was kinda funny, like how did you live through it WITHOUT the epi? makes me kinda proud, like of all my friends, I am the toughest or something. LOL!

Having had a birth with an epi and one without Id pick the one without any day of the week.

If it makes you feel better, I had to have pit with Charlie (labor stalled when my water broke). My first baby was harder than this one...and I had no induction drugs with her!

You can do this! I believe in you!
