Ammonia for clean-up?

Thread Starter
This will be my first time having a homebirth and I am collecting the items on my supply list. Ammonia is listed under the clean-up section. Have any of you ever had to purchase this? What product did you buy? Is there a less toxic alternative? I'd appreciate answers by early Saturday b/c I need to have this before the birth doula visits early Sunday.

Thanks!

I don't know what the Ammonia is for but hydrogen peroxide is great for getting out any stray blood spots. My new, but cheap, white towels came completely clean.

I would not have ammonia in my house for any reason.

Like pp said, peroxide. Works wonders on blood stains.

Yes, ammonia is overkill. Second having plenty of hydrogen peroxide on hand.

I will tell you though if you get iodine on fabric, the only thing I have found that takes it out is ammonia. Other than that, I can't see why it would be needed to clean for your homebirth.
