So many things wrong with this article.

Sweet! That is one that my daughter's doc can't try and pressure me into at her 1 year appt on Monday (she's unvaxed and will stay that way) but this is one she always pushes because "she knew a doctor's kid who went deaf because of meningitis when their was a shortage of the Hib vaccine" but yes, I agree, that article is scaremongering at its best

Yeah at My son's 2 and 4 month appt when I declined HIB vax the doctor told he about the "many deaths" she had seen from HIB (menengitis). Funny how EVERY doctor seems to have a death or disability story to share about these vaccine "preventable" diseases.

Geeze, the picture of the little boy getting jabbed with the shot is bad enough and then the article is alarmist!

It will be interesting to see how many cases of meningitis occur or do not occur and what the 'experts' will say then... although, I'm sure we'll only hear about the ones that occur, KWIM?

Of course, there's no mention of how breastfeeding prevents Hib better than the vax does...nothing like keeping the parents freaked out and begging peds for a vax, instead of empowering them to use their own natural abilities to protect their children. :

This link has studies on bf and HIB:

http://www.vaccinationnews.com/Daily...astfeeding.htm

Quote:
The incidence of H. influenzae in breast-fed infants, mixed-fed infants and formula-fed infants was 0, 0 and 7.0% respectively. CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the colonization of H. influenzae in the throat was inhibited by the presence of breast milk.

kiara7, thanks for the link. I probably should have put that in my original post. That's one of the many reasons our son is coming up on his 3rd birthday and is still nursing. I'm so happy we've been able to make it this long.
