Anyone Know a Family in Need in Chicago?

My boyfriend and I have decided that we would like to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal for a family who cannot afford to purchase their own. We would either like to purchase everything and bring it to the family for them to prepare or we can prepare it ourselves and bring it to them cooked. Whichever the family prefers. Anyone know anyone in need or have any recommendations for agencies to contact for this type of thing?

I would think churches would likely know families in need. I know the church I attend works with Lydia House. Lydia House places children at risk with church members for a short-while. For instance, a mom is homeless and cannot care for her child. As a step before DCFS involvement, the mom works with Lydia House to let families who have been screened and trained to care for her children for a few days or month. You may want to contact them. St. Christopher's House provides services for lots of disadvantaged families. Any Headstart program would know of families in need. HTH. I think what you are doing is commendable. Making the world a better place one act at a time.
