Enfamil Fortifier

Thread Starter
If this is an actually happened, can someone pm me the link since the mods have deleted/locked it?

I work with a lot of moms trying to decide if they should "fortify" their milk while their baby is in the NICU so this information would be VERY useful to that group.

Thank you!

Above is the link to the recent news story.

http://www.who.int/foodsafety/public...guidelines.pdf

The above link is from the WHO, and has guidelines for safe preparation of powdered infant formula, and includes info about the risks of E. Sakazakii.

Powdered formula of any type (fortifier or regular formula) is not recommended for any baby under the age of 8 weeks unless there is no other alternative.

Okay, I'm pretty much never trusting the medical community again. I had to supplement for 10 weeks due to undiagnosed placental retention that caused low milk supply and my ped GAVE US POWDERED FORUMULA to use. WTH?!

Discussing formula being dangerous isn't the same as promoting breastfeeding. That's one of the reasons I closed the first thread.

To discuss the article, post in news and current events.

To do something about it, post in Activism.

To talk about it with other mamas in babies, post in Life with a Babe.

To discuss formula and how to prepare in safety, try Nutrition.

If you are a mother of a NICU or preemie baby and would like to discuss it with other mothers of NICU or preemie babies, try th NICU forum.
