Thanks. The paint I used is the Jacquard Bright Gold Fabric Paint that comes in a little jar.

Thanks again for the wonderful tutorial. I decided that I didn't like what I had up in our play nook before, so we made a rainbow silk using your directions. My ds2 calls it "my rainbow." Here's ours if anyone wants to peek (it's at the bottom of the post):

Opera Mommy, the photo of your rainbow set out with dyes and your DC in the background made me laugh because it looked just like the scene at my house. "What doing Mama?" as my daughter watched me spoon the dye on. It turned out beautiful. I love the "nook" idea in your home. I think I need to find some battery-powered sparkley lights while they are on sale. That's a great idea.

Yes, well if you look closely he's sitting instead of standing because he's NAKED. Since he potty trained he wants to be nude all the time. I started to take the picture and he stood up on the chair. I said, "Sit - no weiners allowed in this picture."

I only have fibre reactive dyes. How could I adapt this method for those?

Here's the Dharma recommendation, but it won't work for the rainbow silk as is: http://www.dharmatrading.com/info/dyeing_wool.html

I don't think that fiber reactive dyes will work with silk. You could make a cotton gauze rainbow with fiber reactives.

I want to try to make some for my daughter. The tutorial is wonderful. I was just wondering, what silk do you buy from the dharmatrading website? Do you buy cuts of fabric or go under the category "all things silk"?

Also, I saw that you mixed your dyes in jars. How much did you use of each color for your rainbow playsilk? I wanted to make some solid colored playsilks and was wondering if I should get the bigger containers of dye.

Ah, so new to this. Sorry!
