Anyone seen Kung Fu Panda?

My kids school is having a movie night and showing Kung Fu Panda.
My 5 and 7 yo have very limited tv and movie experience- Curious George, Real Life Construction Machines, that type of thing.
They really want to go and hang out with their friends, eat popcorn and see the movie.
What is Kung Fu Panda about? Anyone think it's scary? Loaded with mainstream cultural stereotypes?
Thanks!

My 3yo and 5yo saw it and thought it was hilarious. There is quite a bit of fighting in it though, which was to be expected with the title of the movie.

They did not think it was scary at all.

My very sensitive DD did not think it was scary...however there is bad guy and he is a bit creepy.
My kids exposure is bit more than your kids though.
We don't do kid
TV but they have seen the wizard of Oz and many Disney movies like winnie the pooh and cinderella so it wasn't too shocking for them.
I think if you're kids aren't extremely sensitive to bad guys they should be fine.
the worst part for me was how they made fun of the panda for being fat...I mean pandas are supposed to be big and I didn't like the idea of the movie putting it in my kids heads that it was right to make fun of size.
they didn't seem to notice it as I did so it hasn't come up in other areas.

It's an OK movie; it had its moments, anyway. I thought the prison (where the bad guy was being held) was a little creepy, but ds diddn't mind at all. You asked what it was about... It's about finding that spark inside of you. That something we've all got. As the panda's duck father said "There is no secret ingredient." You're special when you believe you are. Po finds it, defeats the bad guy blah-de-blah. It's a cute movie and really the meanest person in the whole thing is Tigress, but she's got hefty jelousy issues.

we really enjoyed it!

The only downside I've seen from it is the constant kung fu-ing that happens for hours after seeing it.

My 6 y/o boys loved it. My 4 y/o DD wasn't interested but she wasn't scared of it (and she is pretty sensitive).

I enjoyed it for the most part.

My DH saw it and decided that it was too violent for our 4yo, but she's pretty sensitive.

my 6 year old loved it. her 6 year old friends hated it.

its a good movie to hang otu with friends and eat popcorn with. watching it with people kinda takes the fear away.

it was a popular choice for movie night for two elementary schools in our neighbourhood. you should have heard the children laugh.

in fact for me i loved the 'eastern wisdom' aspect of it and was happy my dd got a glimpse of it from a child's source rather than from the way adults see it.

even though they brought up fat (i personally have never enjoyed humanising of animals -trans-whatever that word is) i thought it was dealt in a healthy way.

hope that helps.
