Another Santa Question. Are you Santa Mom?

Are you Santa Mom? This is what my 5 y/o asked me the other day. I do not like to lie, but I have NEVER been asked this by my other 3 older kids. They would ask things like Do you believe in Santa? I would say Yes, because i do believe in the spirit of Santa.

My 5y/o has never been to school or daycare. My oldest 3 have been in school. He is a very imaginative kid. Since he could talk he would say things like Mom you be Duck and I will be Little Bear. Or Mom lets play Star Wars. You are....How can he be doubting Santa at such a young age? I am so sad.

If you like to keep the kids believing, then what would you say to his question?

It's not neccessarily a lie, but a bending of the truth without you saying a lie...

I would probably say, "Do you really want to know?"

Oddly enough, my DD decided "No" for quite a long time and continued "believing." Eventually she said, "Yes" and we told her the "truth" about Santa.

Definitely ask the "What do you think?" question.

Ds (age 7) was told explicitly by several friends this year that Mom/Dad were the tooth fairy and he immediately extended it to Santa. He asked me if I was Santa, and after I asked "what do you think?" he said "I think you are, so are you really?" After that he asked me why I was Santa, and I explained that it was fun to buy gifts for a surprise.

Oddly enough, he's either the world's best actor around his sister (unlikely, this child couldn't lie his way out of a paper bag), or he's gone back to believing!
