An amazing day!

I really want to share what has happened between DS and I over the last two days.
I'm not sure exactly where to put it but I only want positive and supportive replies so I thought here was the best place.

To start at the beginning....
I was always commited to CLW and did CLW my DD. She weaned herself at just over 3 years. I had tandem fed her along with DS for 10 months. Sadly, after DS was born I developed severe PPD and just after his first birthday I was extremely ill and had an episode of PPP. It was during this episode that I had to wean DS over night so I could take the anti-pychotics I needed so badly.
I know that I was very unwell and not able to make decisions but I have been unable to forgive myself for having to wean DS and not able to come to terms with it either.

Fast forward to yesterday, almost 2 years since I had to wean him.
DS has recently become very interested in nursing. I thought he would have no memory of it but he did seem to. I had showed him a photo of him nursing when he was a baby and he flung his arms around me and gave me a huge hug.

Anyway, yesterday we were visiting friends and my friends DD is almost 2 and was nursing. DS was watching her closely. When we got home he snuggled down in my arms in a nursing position and said 'can I try?' I agreed and he had a go. He didnt remember what to do and after about 20 seconds stopped trying, gave me a hug and got down to play. I thought that would be it but then this morning when we woke up he asked again! He spent about 10 minutes 'trying' he didnt latch on properly but he seemed really happy and contented.
Then later this morning he asked again! This time I talked him through a latch and for about 10 seconds he actually latched on!!!

I know that it is extremely unlikely that after 2 years he is going to start nursing again but it has been a very healing 2 days and I just had to share.

Oh wow, that's really cool! And it must be sweet for you to have, even if it's only a few times, after all you've been through.

so lovely. No need to even wonder if the nursing will begin again, you've already had an amazing success (beautiful time).
