Knitting an Ipod cozy

I thought it would be a great idea for DP for Christmas. I found a pattern, bought some beautiful bamboo yarn and started it a week ago. I hate it

The pattern calls for you to knit it flat and then seam the sides. I decided to knit it in the round because I don't like how side seams look. Well, I had to knit it on DPN the whole way because it is so small and I have never done an entire project with DPN before. My cast on row is so loose compared to how it normally would be. The yarn is slippery (I've never used bamboo before - is it all slippery?) and takes so much longer to knit with than if I were to use wool.
Now I'm starting to really pay attention to the end of the pattern and it calls for you to use velcro. Really? How in the world would the velcro not catch in the yarn and ruin the knitting? And how on earth would you sew it on without ruining the stitches?

Is this project doomed? Should I just frog it and sew an ipod cozy out of a nice felted sweater I've got? What would you do?

Sorry that no one has answered you. I don't quite know what to do, but I think your feelings about this project are right. I've never knit with bamboo, but it sounds like a nightmare. And velco with knitting? Bad news. I like the felted cozy idea, instead.

In my experience, yes, bamboo is always slippery and hard to knit with, but I think that the FO are so worth it. (If you give up on the Ipod cozy, I did this with bamboo http://www.knitandtonic.typepad.com/dreamswatchwrap.pdf and it came out great) If you want to stick with the Ipod cozy, I would try a button fastener instead, I agree that velcro is crazy talk.

I have completely given up on this project
I really like the dreamswatch wrap; I think when I have time to knit something for myself I may try that. Thanks!

i am sorry it did not work. I knit my daughter an i-pod cosy and it is sewn up the sides and has two knit straps on either side of the top that go over and button.

I've been making Fetching (by knitty.com) with bamboo/silk yarn and it is a bit tricky. I've dropped stitches many times and it is frustrating.
I also found it stretched after a few weeks and so I'm making them in smaller sizes to accomodate.
I'm not sure how much I love this bamboo yarn either; but it feels so nice when it is finished!
Good luck.
