Bloody show/no contractions/dilated to 3 a few days ago...

I had a midwife appt. on Thursday, I was a day late with our fourth baby.

She checked me and found i was 3cm. I've not had any contractions.

Since Thursday I've had a lot of bloody show and some contractions, but we're talking maybe a couple during the whole day.

Would the bloody show be caused by dilation? Can dilation occur without regular contractions?

The bloody show I'm having is the amount I've always had during active labor. I'm not used to a lot of bloody show pre-labor, so I'm wondering if I could be dilating..?

Just to be clear, it is bloody show - not just blood. mixed with lots of mucous, so I'm not worried about bleeding. Just curious about all of this.

This is our fourth baby in 4.5 years. i wasn't expecting to see my due date and now I'm late! LOL.

I'm guessing it's just slow going. I had a friend who was in labour for (get this) almost a week! On and off contractions, bloody show, the works. Eventually (after 4.5 days) things picked up and BAM...her babe was born in like three hours. Take this time to relax and do some things you want to do. Get a foot massage (there's a spot that can help with labour between the heel and the ankle - worked for me!!!), have a small glass of wine (Yes I just said that...) or just kick back and chill. Save all that energy for what's coming!! Good luck!

One of my midwives is coming over in a bit to check me and check the baby's position more. I'm still having a lot of bloody show but no contractions. She said it is possible to be dilating even without contractions but thinks the baby may not be positioned right and that might be holding things up... So we'll see!
