Anyone NOT want siblings there for birth? - Page 2

I'm not comfortable having the kids in the room while I am actually laboring and definitely not while pushing. I really need privacy to focus and not worry about whose worried/scared/hungry etc. With my first homebirth the 2 younger kids were down the street with their great-grandmother and my oldest was in the living room with my MIL. She was able to come in right after her sister was born and cut the cord which was awesome. That is something she is so proud of and I am so glad we let her stay home. This time I plan on having the kids in the house if they want to be here but not in the room that I'm laboring in. Last time I couldn't get anyone to bring back the younger kids until several hours after the baby was born and I wanted them home sooner so I think this will work out well. Now I just need to find someone to hang with the kids while I labor.

I was never really able to concentrate while in labor when my existing children were present. That's just me, I wanted to focus on them, but I just couldn't do both, and it happened to work out quite nicely that I gave birth both times late at night, first at 10:27, then at 9:24, both times they went to bed around 7:30pm, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I hope my next births are the same.
