Painting mugs or plates?

Years ago I had a student give me a mug that she painted. Her mom told me that she had bought a certain kind of paint that did not need a kiln to set it. If I remember correctly, her mom may have put it in the oven.
Does anyone know what kind of paint this is? Can it be used on any white mug or plate? Thanks for any help!

I don't know what it's called but you can find it easily at a craft store. You can buy a little set with a variety of colors. You can paint on any white mug(I don't think I would do it on a plate you were going to eat of off)and the one I used didn't have to go in the oven to set it.It came with some sort of sealer.

I know Magic Cabin sells "markers" that you use to draw designs on plates/mugs they supply. The plates/mugs have been treated with something that makes the paint bond right to the surface. But it's not food safe.

Our local Michaels has a similar product that you paint on your own dishes. Again, it's not food safe (and I think it's handwash only as well) but it doesn't have a sealer... I think you bake it in the oven for a period of time? I know I've seen it in the aisle with the other "bake" crafts (like plastic bead suncatchers and scuply).

Thanks to everyone! I eventually got Pebeo Porcelaine Paint Markers. These seem to work great...we will decorate the outside of mugs and bowls for gifts!
