Anyone use bio-identical hormones?

Quick history -- I don't really menstruate on my own. I have only a few times in my life. We did two years of infertility treatment and ended up conceiving my son doing IVF. No one bothered to figure out WHY I wasn't menstruating.

Anyway, we'd like to have another baby but can't afford more infertility treatment (emotionally or financially). So I went to a health practitioner who tests your hormone levels via a saliva test and she found that my estrogen AND progesterone are both really low. I just started taking bio-identical estrogen and progesterone and she's fairly confident that this will make me have cycles.

Just wondering if anyone else has done this or can relate.

I don't have any knowledge on this, but I am interested to hear about the results! I would try anything to get cycles again. Let us know what happens!

It sounds like you are on the right track. I know they use progesterone to induce a period. Good luck to you.

I do! I haven't been able to find much info or people here that are. I am 22 with one baby (TTC 1 year) still nursing and at 2.5 years postpartum still no cycle. I am on month 3 of the bio identical hormones and still no cycle BUT I had an ultrasound last week that showed a dominant follicle on the right and everything looking normal. So we suspect this month I will have a cycle. My Dr. just increased the hormone levels even more. The benefits have been really good for me, less fatigue, increased libido, weight gain (which I really needed). Good luck with everything and don't get discouraged if it doesn't work the first couple months.
