poas before beta?

I was wondering about poas before your beta.

Do you do it a lot? By yourself? With dh or dp? Do you not poas? Do you believe in poas results? Do you share results? Please share.

personally I like to poas so that I have an idea of whether or not the beta is going to be positive. much better than finding out from lab personnel or the dr that I am not preg. (that way I can melt down in private). But if I ever get that BFP again pretty sure I will be running right over to the hospital for a beta! good luck!!

I poas the morning of my scheduled beta. I knew I wouldn't get the beta results until later in the afternoon and just wanted to be prepared. That said I was still holding my breath a little until I got the actual number. I'd had a beta with a previous cycle that was low and resulted in a chemical pregnancy so I was cautiously optimistic when I saw the 2nd line but not over the moon.

I didn't test earlier in the cycle because I didn't want the roller coaster of a false negative. I tested by myself, dh had already left for work.

Good luck!

I don't POAS. I know I would just second guess it, worry that even if it was a BFP that the numbers weren't high enough (as has happened twice, 2 very early m/c's). I feel like it is just more ammo for my crazy making brain, kwim? But, I am not at all inhibited when I get bad news from the clinic, so I don't feel like I have to be prepared so I won't be embarassed or whatever. The last time I got bad news, I actually hung up in the middle of the call. Not caring at the moment what the next steps are, and assuming they would understand.

I did POAS before my ivf beta. The stick said negative, the beta was positive. The time between the two was horrendous! I don't recommend it to anyone and really wish I had just waited. I tested by myself in an attempt to shield my dh from the results.

My clinic gives results on a recorded message that you dial-in to hear. So, I can call in sometime when I have privacy to help me deal with the results.

I did. When I thought that I the trigger had enough time to leave my system. I POAS by myself while DH was at work. Such a faint line, so I had to crack the test open, call my mom to come look, and run out and get 6 more tests. I told my hubby when he got home from work. We waited to get TOO excited until after our beta.

In hindsight, I don't regret POAS. If the results were negative, I needed time to process that before our beta.

It's up to you! Good luck!

I did, and got three negatives, yet got a positive beta. That was with ds. This last cycle, I just did a POAS, and it was negative. I'm starting to think it's jinxed for me or something.

I'm a POAS addict. I watched the trigger leave my system and then a few days later got the lightest line ever. After 3 days of light lines (like angle it in the light light) someone recommended I try a digital. It was so worth the money! Seeing "pregnant" was better than discerning a line. Anyways this was 5 days before our beta.

Would it have made me crazy if it had been negative? Sure, but IVF and craziness seem to go together to me. After u/s and bloodwork I couldn't stay out of touch with my body for 2 whole weeks!

You all are so sweet, thanks for thinking of me. I am truly amazed that it worked. Just so thankful and feeling like it's unbelievable. My first beta was 189 15dp er and my 2nd was 476 17dp er so far so good.

I had a terrible cycle it was probably my worst. I goofed on my meds since I started menopur way to early. I was on 450 of follistim and miserable. Then I only had 4 mature eggs, 2 eggs fertilized and my 2 embies were average to less than. But my god it worked. So right now I am taking that. I know that my journey is far from over. But for my crappy cycle to have worked is amazing and miraculous. I trust my re but I really think it's all a crap shoot.

IF s*ucks and this journey will be with me forever and I am so thankful for everyone here. I am scared and embracing the road I am on (god willing) for the next 36 weeks. I pray that it is uneventful and that you all join me.

I should say I don't believe in the poas results because it is not guaranteed. As in "congratulations your baby will be here in 40 weeks just as expected". I know that stick can not guarantee me that so i don't believe it but I also can't resist it. I sometimes can't be stopped from poas numerous times a day and I do w/o dh. Then I have all these sticks that I hope he does not see and think I am nutty.
