The Traffic Safety Alliance suddenly knows all about infant health and wellness?!? - Page 2

Wow, a fully qualified, board-certified pediatrician answering phones for the TSA? This lady is seriously underpaid!

Seriously, write a letter of complaint. :

I almost wonder if she lost a child to diabetes or something? The way she was so defensive about it leads me to believe she did, or at least lost someone important due to diabetes.

But seriously, that is so far out of line, it's not even funny. I would talk to her supervisor because the company could be sued if someone took her advice and the baby got ill or worse because of it. The only thing she should have been concerned with during that conversation is that your child was in an appropriately fitting carseat.

Someone so rude and hostile shouldn't be dealing with the public let alone dispensing medical diagnosis and ORDERS . She's dangerous.

Good Lord Almighty, what an obnoxious knowitall.

Just to make you feel better, my older son was 20 lbs before 4 months, and he's now a healthy 5YO who weighs 42 lbs and who needs adjustable waist pants or else they fall off his skinny little rear.

If you have to interact with her, tell her your doctor is very pleased with his growth.

wow!

well - i would go when he is closer to 22 lbs - and when you have a chance to laugh at her ridiculousness instead of steam up - LOL.

My son was gaining weight like crazy until about 6 month, and leveled off quite a bit. So you may be surprised how long he will be under 22 lbs.

wow! I am sorry!! I hope she gets in trouble for this!

Get your carseat, make your donation, nurse as usual...complain AFTERWARDS.

I'm stunned, just stunned.

That cracked me up

Thanks ladies, I'm going to write a letter soon. I have told so many people this story... they all think it's really weird.

What everyone else said.

Wow, just wow. DD was always over the charts (exlusively breast fed.) My ped kept saying, "She's doing great! Remember, you can't overfeed a breastfed baby!" (uh, which I knew, but I wasn't snarky because he's the first ped I've had that's knowledgeable about BFing.(

unlike my first one with DS :

"How many ounces is he taking?" Well, you see, breasts aren't metered, so I don't quite know how to answer that.

"Oh, look at his diaper - does his stool always look like that?" Well, you mean mustard colored and sort of runny? Oh, yes. BECAUSE HE IS BREASTFED EXCLUSIVELY! I swear, that office had never seen a breastfed baby before, they had no idea of how to deal with it.

(oh and FTR, DD, who was over the top of the line on every chart is now a tall, lean 3 year old. )

Get the carseat, and then complain and provide info to the woman. Oy!

I hate it when people freak out about things they know *nothing* about! I would be going over her head definitely. She's spreading HORRIBLE misinformation and is probably going to ruin more than a few nursing relationships in the process.

My DS was a big baby too. About 20 lbs and 26-27 inches at 3.5 months. Guess what? Once he started moving, he stopped gaining so fast and now he's almost 4 years old and 50% weight and height. Also exclusively breastfed.

FWIW, you can get a cosco scenera for less than $50 at wal-mart/target. It's a great convertible on a budget and will let him rear-face to 35 lbs. You will need another harnessed seat after that, but it will buy you at least 2 years to save up. Maybe sell all the adorable little baby clothes he's already outgrown to help save up the cash?

Yowsers. Check your health insurance. i just found out my new one Fallon gives you a convertable car seat. My old one gave you one for about 25$ and the one before thatgave a free infant seat. Look into that so you do not have to deal with her.

Ooh, check with your car insurance too. I've heard of them doing free/discounted seats.

Yes, my car insurance (USAA) gives a one time car seat rebate (I think that is per child).

Well you know with the economy and all...

Wow...I can't believe she said that. I HATE it when people comment on the size of my daughter. Depending on who you talk too...she's either "ZOMG HUGE?!" or "really tiny" (FWIW she's 26lbs and 34 inches...and she's 2 years old...I always though that was kind of average) I especially hate it when they go on about how "big" she is. They don't mean it in a nice way. : I wonder if they would say that about an adult.

I would get my carseat as well and definitely complain about her. That was very rude and unprofessional. And she shouldn't be handing out medical advise like that. What if she had said something like that to a more impressionable overwhelmed mother and that mother curbed her childs feeds and replaced feeds with water. Based on this womans advice? There are some people that don't question people in certain positions. They assume they know what they are talking about.
