Our daughter, Ginevra, was born on Friday morning at 6:58 a.m.! Weight was 7 lbs. 6 oz., and she was just over 20" long.
She's beautiful and calm and I still cannot believe that she is finally here! We had a natural birth at the birth center as planned, but I pushed for almost 4 hours and that sucked! My contractions were very long, so I hardly got any breaks- according to my husband, who discussed this with the nurse and midwife while I was busy pushing. Any way, 4 hours is their time limit on pushing (as set by the backup OBs) and I think my final wind came when the midwife mentioned that we might need to transfer to the hospital for forcep or vacuum assistance.
Despite some "creative" tearing that needed repair (that's what the midwife called it), we were on our way home five hours later. We had some trouble getting started with nursing, but we both know better what we're doing now, and things are pooping along quite nicely!
I am still in awe.
