Need a Book :)

Hey all

I'm a very beginning crocheter. I can make a simple hat (in the round) but nothing fancy. I guess I could do a scarf, it's all straight, right?

Anyway I have a chance to put a book on an Amazon order from the states. : I want to get a good basic book with some patterns in it (kids' hats, maybe a sweater or some type of toy, etc). I know the basics, I can follow pattern directions (soft of) so I don't need something to show me how to single or double crochet, just some nice patterns, for dummies type book. I have found quite a few on amazon but since I can't really browse them (even with the look inside feature) I'd like some firsthand recommendations.

TIA

Hi! I'm interested in other recommendations you get, as we're probably about the same skill level. Although I can crochet in the round fine, but still haven't become consistent in my straight crocheting I'm just as likely to end up with a trapezoid as not

Anyway, I asked for and got this book, Crochet in No Time, for Christmas last year and I really like it:
http://www.amazon.com/Crochet-Time-E...7531976&sr=8-1

The patterns are cute and stylish, there's stuff for babies, kids, adults, a couple toys, some scarves, some home decor...all the stuff you said. I've made a couple things. The patterns I did were challenging for me, which I like because I learned a lot and wasn't bored. They would not be "advanced" or anything--mostly easy to moderate and some hard ones, I'd say.

Good luck choosing!

Thanks I'm gonna check that book out. It does seem like we are on the same level. I'm loving my crochet :

What do you want? For baby/toddler crochet, get one of Candi Jensen's books (Candy Babies or Candy Tots). For something a bit more general, I suggest Crochet from the Heart. Those all have very simple, easy to understand patterns. 24-Hour Crochet is another nice one, and I'm quite fond of Hip to Crochet.

At the moment I'm into baby / toddler stuff, but I kind of would also like a general book (maybe I'll make a granny square blanket, some pot holders, a hat for me, etc). Really I just want something with easy patterns I can follow, not too complicated, etc.

Any more suggestions, I'm going to order today :

Hi Rach,
What did you end up ordering from amazon? How do you like it? I was wondering, since I could use another book

Thanks!

Looks nice! That will definitely help you in coming up with your own original stuff.
