I wasn't so very close to him, but I used to babysit him when he was a little guy and he's just so young. He's US Army stationed in Fort Lewis, WA, and my aunt's only child. My aunt so far has no idea what happened, the Army isn't telling anything other than he was found in his car on base Sat. night at 9:15. His widow (goodness she's only 20 years old!) doesn't know anything else either, she signed the papers for the military to deal with my aunt because she was so distraught. They have an 11mo baby boy.
My aunt is trying to make arrangements to have his body sent home for burial, get tickets for his wife and baby, find a place for everyone to stay (my aunt also doesn't live near our family's burial site), and well, function. I don't know what to do or how to help. The Army isn't releasing his body yet, and I don't know when they will do so.
My ds is incredibly distraught as they were very close (my ds is almost 17). Ds wants to join the military as well and they chatted online (myspace primarily) all the time. He had the car that my ds wants (in his dreams!) and ds just broke down when I told him yesterday.
Ds also lost another friend last week (albeit not a terribly close friend but still) to a hunting accident.
I am just at a loss and wish I could help but can't really and feel horrible. I did get the music my aunt requested for the funeral, but I don't know how to help her, can't help my ds, can't help my cousin.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. That is so tragic to lose a family member so young.
I'm so, so, sorry for your loss. It's some comfort that he lived long enough to have a child.
