Living Crafts snow man help

Hi Folks,

Anyone have the current issue of Living Crafts and can help me with something on the snow man pattern?

I'm having trouble with the decrease part that gets you from 48 to 30 stitches.

As I read it you decrease two times on each needle on row 1 of 4. And you do this three times. So this gets you down to 39 stitches, not 30.

That's where my confusion sets in.

Any wisdom?

thanks!

I don't have it yet (seriously getting annoyed about that, my subscription should have been here a while ago now!!) but if you write out just the specific lines for the decreases, I'll decipher for you

Thanks, knittin'. I'll do that when I get home. I knew I shouldn't put patterns up, and I didn't want to even put a piece up, so I avoided that at first.

Thanks so much!

You have 48 stitches, knitting in the round, so assuming 3 needles.
Decrease 2 stitches on each needle = 6 stitches decreased total in one round.
Then you have 42 stitches. Then it says do that two times more:
Decrease 6 stitches again (on 4th round)= 36 stitches
Decrease 6 stitches again (next 4th round)= 30 stitches

So you decrease by 6 stitches 3 times total. 48 - 3(6) = 30.
Right?

I think you're exactly right. Must frog and try again. If it still fails me, I'll be back asking for more help!

Thanks,
