Depending on whether we have money then or not...I will be making a trip to my local yarn store, then taking my Mom to the airport. Woohoo!

my usual-enjoying the day in nature with my family-not purchasing anything, anywhere!

Ok, a bit off topic, but....

Does it seem like this Black Friday deals aren't as good as previous years? I mean, looking at the price savings, there are like 3 or 4 things that are a good buy. Everything else looks to be about the price I'd pay for a sale at any other time of the year. Maybe it's just me?

I was planning on staying home, sleeping in, and having a quiet day with my kids. I'd rather go shopping on Monday and skip the crowds.

I might go out early and see if I can get a few things. I normally never go because I have always worked the day after, but this year I am not so I want to see what all the fuss is about. However, if I don't have anything specific I want to get I'll probably stay home.

I plan to sleep late and not shop for a thing. Shopping on BF gives me hives.

I NEVER go shopping on Black Friday. :

But I might like to get out of the house and go see an early showing of Twilight.

I can even sleep in late and still get to the 11:20 a.m. showing!

Moving to frugality.

Don't have the money to do anything this year or I'd have someone watch the kids and go be crazy with everyone else at the stores Just staying home and eating too many leftovers instead.

I looked at the BF flyer for Wal-Mart and there were some really great deals.. and I know it's going to be crazy this year. Everyone is wanting to stretch their dollar as far as they can.

I'm making a plan tonight. I'm definitely hitting Joanne's- $1.29/yard flannel + my 15% homeschool discount = too good to resist. CVS has some great deals too if you're into that sort of thing.

Another Joann's here I buy the flannel every year, and definitely don't regret it.

what's black friday?

i'm guessing its equivilant to our "boxing day" sales on dec 26th in oz. man those sales are CRAZY. you can and (probably will) get trampled on upon entry.

on boxing day, i sleep in and eat leftovers...

I don't usually shop that day.
We did see one thing dd really wants in a local store's ad so we might go get it. Hopefully it won't be crazy.

In the past 10 years, the only Black Fridays I've skipped have been the years where I had infants, and since I have an almost-8-month-old, I'll be skipping this year as well. However, we've cut our holiday spending so far back that I'm not sure it would have even been worth it to go out this year any way. I may do a little online shopping, though--a lot of the small businesses on HyenaCart.com and Etsy.com do Black Friday sales.

It seems like Menards, CVS, and Bergener's have consistently good sales every year. Be careful with Wal-Mart sales; the best deals are usually lower-quality, no-frills models that manufacturers make cheap just for Wal-Mart.

Can anyone tell me if the Joann flannel sale is on-line too?

I have never gone out on black Friday before but for some reson DH seems to think I should go.
I think my sister and I are going to be BF newbies.
Neither of us really need anything. But my sister wants some flannel blankets from Menards and I stupidly want to go to Bath and Body works.
We both have older nursing kids so they should be fine without us for a bit

I am excited to see what the mess is about!

My Sister and I are going out this year. We have been shopping black friday for quite a few years now. Neither one of us has very much money, but it is the tradition and entertainment value that keeps us going. Plus, we are scoping out the stores that have completely free gifts. It will be worth the wait in line.

Bath and Body works has a great deal this year...Spend $40 and get the VIP bag for $15. I love their stuff. Haven't bought any in a LONG time, but thankfully when I had money I bought large amounts of products during the semi-annual sale and have lots left.

This website is pretty good: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/
