Dialation & Effacement progress thread - Page 3

Just went this morning--I'm 37 weeks, 5 days. I am 1 cm dilated, 75% effaced. Still spotting from the exam--ouch! Not fun!

I was 1cm, and -1 and really soft but still long (according to the MW) a few days ago.. 36 weeks.

Last week @35 I was closed, very soft, and 25% effaced (this is our first LO)
I spotted for almost a week after, so I don't know if I want her to check me today
B/C of my GD, I am having a sizing sono today so I am excited about that

38 w today. Went to MW yesterday and am only 2cm, 10% effaced, did the membrane stripping, but my cervix isn't ready yet. I am wiping slimy/brown stuff away when I pee though...and there was a sizeable chunk in the bottom of the potty...but I'm not sure if that's from her messing with me, or REALLY me having my bloody show. I dunno.

39 weeks and a whole lot of nothing (like, long closed firm posterior and baby at zero station). Remind me that this is ok

Its ok Iolanthe, 39 weeks is early still! Plus not everyone dilates and effaces before labor or drops before labor. Especially for not first babies.

40w 1d - 2cm 25% hopefully soon so I don't have to deal with stupid doctors. I really don't understand how they earn that degree sometimes. I really don't.

Just went in for a check-up today - I'm 39 weeks, 3 days, and I'm at a big fat nothing! Barely a fingertip dilated, no effacement, and babe's at -3 and ballotable. I *know* that it all means nothing, and that I'm still not even to my due date, and that LO will come when he/she's ready, and all that...... but still, I feel deflated and like I'm going to be pregnant for EVER... How do some mamas make it to 42-43+ weeks without going nuts??

I'm at 39.4 and had my first check today. I must say I'm not fond of these cervical checks b/c they lead to too much 'head' time - you think too hard about it, kwim? Anyhoo... I'm 1cm-ish, 80% effaced and at stage -2. Basically, could go tonight, or anytime in the next 2 weeks.

With my first, that practice checked me every week from 36 weeks on and I remember being 2 cm for over 3 weeks! drove me nuts to think that I was that far along for SO LONG. With my 2nd I never had them check me - just relaxed me a bit....

I was curious so I checked to see if I could feel anything yesterday.. LOL, I haven't visited my ol' buddy in a while, since I obviously haven't been charting during the pregnancy. I think I felt a mucus plug? Couldn't tell much other than that, it was kinda soft and hidden so I *think* I'm a little effaced but not dilated yet, but I'm no expert. My practice doesn't do cervical checks until I'm at the hospital and well along in labor, which is fine with me.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread. I am curious to hear from mamas who have delivered how their cervix was before labor started. Anyone go from nothing to laboring pretty quickly?:

With DD, I was 3cm, 75% effaced, and she was engaged at 32 weeks.

With this little guy, I am now over 38 weeks and am soft, closed, 30% effaced, and posterior. His head is at -2 station. Loads of contractions but they don't seem to do anything. Maybe he will surprise us?

I went for my 40 week appointment and there has been no change since 36 weeks. I'm 80% effaced 0 dialated and -2 station.

As of a few days ago I was 1 cm dilated, 70% effaced. I had a few hours of real contractions on Saturday night (2-3 mins apart, lasting 90 seconds), but I was hesitant to be checked because I didn't want to feel disappointed if there wasn't much going on....though I know there is a lot going on - does that make sense? Anyhoo, I did feel a little bummed, but know that my body is working in it's own time and trust that my baby knows when she's ready to arrive.

My first three were 2 weeks 'post' date, so i'm not surprised to still be here at 41 weeks...but my instinct has been that this babe would arrive earlier than the others.

I am really enjoying reading everyone's birth stories and also glad that there are other mamas still posting who haven't birthed - I appreciate all the thoughts everyone's been sharing.

I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow, got checked yesterday at my appointment due to loss of mucous plug and 10 days of fun fun contractions

just shy of 4 cm and 60%effaced baby between -1 and -2 station.

But I think I'm quite content remaining pregnant until after Christmas.

DD did that to me last time (quite the prankster.) good luck!

Monday I was like 2cm, 75% effaced. rah! but no baby yet. I wouldn't have an actual baby and not tell people despite what some of my acquaintances or relatives, and I'm sure everyone else has some like that, appear to think. "had that baby yet?"
