Pleasantly surprised at the WIC office

DD had her 1 year old appt. at WIC yesterday and I went in, expecting to be advised to switch her to whole milk. However, when we started talking about the food my DD eats (basically anything that she can feed herself sans spoon), the counselor was quite encouraging. She said that if I wanted to, I could start giving DD a bit of whole milk with cereal but I shouldn't worry if the baby doesn't like it. Then she mentioned that it took her son a while to take to whole milk but it was understandable as he was breastfed until 3.5 years.
Later on when I said I might wean my DD when I have my next little one (I'm TTC), she told me about a friend of hers who had her second one when her first was two and ended up tandem nursing. The woman was quite encouraging. I'm so glad she's working where she can have a positive impact on a lot of mamas.
