Do you make and sell handmade toys? - Page 2

Thanks for the clarification!

Frankly, I'm a lot less concerned about having my creations tested as I am about the safety of children who's parents may unwittingly purchase a product that is toxic or unsafe for their child.

I'm all for it if people who make things they now call toys, have to reclassify their products as room decorations, collectibles, novelty items and so forth. When I see a a product being marketed as a toy "perfect for any age" or "perfect for teething" which is plainly unsafe, I cringe at the thought that a mother who is inexperienced or uninformed about these issues, might purchase something that may choke, impale, asphyxiate, poison or hang their baby. If that means I sell fewer dolls or even none at all, because of stricter standards in the new law, I'm ok with that.

I've been reading about this the past few days and I'm really confused by now!

Any item, including those made from cloth, will still have to be tested for lead. (I believe they don't have to be tested for phthlates, but they do have to be tested for lead.)
