rosemary -nice for skin and scalp -especially dandruff (to use in shampoo bars)
spearmint - refreshing in soaps and lip balms
lavender - relaxing and kind of off-sets other less pleasant scents
grapefruit - just a nice pick-me-up
lemongrass - not as fleeting as other citrus scents
tea tree - bug bites and acne, etc.

I have a wood box filled with essential oils I have collected over the years and 2-3 more that do not fit inside the box. LOL I own three books specifically on the subject and two more that are generic holistic health type books that devote a chapter or two to aromatherapy/essential oils. I also check out books from the library regularly. In lieu of listing them all, LOL, how about I just state the most recent usage?
I have the Valerie Worwood book from the library right now (her first) and this morning I put one drop of Roman chamomile EO on a cotton ball and patted it on a sore spot on my upper gum near the back of my mouth.

I just got a few more EOs. GNC has a buy one, get one half off sale right now. And a local health food store has all body care, including EOs, on sale for 25% off. And a web site had EOs 30% off for one day. Thanks to this thread, I actually made a spreadsheet of my EOs.

Related products:
Rose water concentrate

Sweet almond oil
Many of these are teeny tiny vials.
Brands I recommend:
AuraCacia (I have one that is about a year old and it is still in perfect condition.)
Now (I've had one for more than two years that is still in great condition. The rest are very new.)
Young Living (These are more than two years old and still look and smell perfect. They may not still be therapeutic, according to one author, but they can still be used for many other uses.)
I use the following books mostly for ideas/tips/recipes:
Aromatherapy by Penny Rich
Aromatherapy an A-Z by Patricia Davis
Aromatherapy for the Healthy Child by Valerie Ann Worwood
The oils I use most are lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus on myself. On DD (age 7), I use Gentle Baby and chamomile the most. DH has only used tea tree oil.
